We Happy Few also took inspiration from some old posters.

What's wrong with pin-up? Gah, I don't have a single issue with the pose, other than her quite creepy face (probably just my anger of being killed by her over, and over, and over)...

My favourite Overwatch character also has a pin-up pose... And I love it.

I don't have a single issue with vintage 40's imagery at all. The 40's were massively progressive it's not like it's pre-suffragette stuff...

Good video when he's actually talking about games evolving over time and reviews only capturing a small snapshot from their early days.

He totally goes off the rails toward the end, though. "172 hours for 25 dollar game is pretty good value for money in my eyes" is the kind of thinking that needs to die a very painful death as soon as possible. Sometimes people continue to play games in the hopes that they get better (and sometimes they do; I didn't really take a liking to Bloodborne until the very end of the game). Sometimes they're a part of a series that has to be fought through in order to better appreciate the sequel (The Dark Eye: Chains of Satinav comes immediately to mind, or Lufia & The Fortress of Doom if you want to go retro) or they themselves are a sequel that hides away the answers to long-unresolved questions (Dreamfall Chapters—so much rage). And what if the Steam user review person's hours were spent playing a previous, superior version of the game that was wiped out in an update and no longer exists? That very much happened with Payday 2 when they introduced microtransactions, and the backlash caused the new owners to reverse course. And this is apparently a bad thing?

It just blows me away how myopic TB can be sometimes.

It's not like such legal action would ever stick, those devs are crazy. BTW, the guys who used to be Game Trailers are heading up their own site now. Bloodworth just reviewed Blood and Wine. I always felt their reviews were more level-headed than what IGN or Gamespot put out, so I'm glad they're up and running. Although I think it's a crowdfunding project for now.

Erik Kain is right on the mark with this one. I thought the BLM reference was silly too, but outrage culture and social media ironically showed their Orwellian side.

Yeah, I was reading what he said a couple of hours ago, and I agree. It was a little under-sensitive as a PR move, but the extreme reaction is ridiculous. Yet another case of outrage without actually having PLAYED the relevant games.

Not the first time they've gone after Deus Ex for being too true to reality. I'll never get over the irony of SJWs bitching about a video-game whose project lead is an African-American who said he drew inspiration from the civil rights movement in the 1960's for the social issues explored in the game.
BECAUSE WE WANT VIDEO-GAMES TO BE MATURE - BUT ONLY WHEN WE SAY IT'S OKAY!!!!! :stuart:

Future pulitzer prize winners - every single one of them. God bless their hearts.

But.... but... it depicted some women as prostitutes. And the Chinese people didn't all speak perfect English. So what if the central theme was the bad things that can happen in a dystopian society, and how this mirrors our own? It had PROSTITUTES!

(Assuming you're talking about DX:HR here :) )

I think they're still sore over Letitia, which you have to admit was like meeting Aunt Jemima in future Detroit.

Speaking of why Gamergate occurred in the first place:

Sony and Hello games deserve mountains of scorn for this scam. I just went back and watched some of the preview PR vids and the dishonesty is off the charts. It seems they're getting off a bit easy because 'we're an indie dev' and not some 'evil' corporation like Ubisoft or EA.

I think all three parties are at fault though, you can't let off the gamers themselves either. They may not have been dishonest, but those with unrealistic expectations definitely suffered a lack of common sense.

Hooooooly shit... I didn't watch many of the trailers or gameplay events before about NMS. From what I remembered from the first video and what I barely read on the media, I thought the game would pretty much be like what is published right now: somewhat of a copy of the galactic stage of Spore. But now watching these videos and listening to Murray... Holy hell! It looks like he pretty much lied his ass off. I was pretty much writing it as "Well, this is basically a poor indie guy who wasn't able to implement some of what he planned, and the crowd just hyped it so much that they are disappointed" before. But not anymore... Damn...

By the way, some of the media outlets there seemed to at least push him for some answers. But the guy just said all positive stuff. I don't know... I can't put this on the game journalists (at least all of them). It seemed like they at least tried a bit. That GT Live guy, for example, took none of that shit :D

Anyway... I hope this finally pushes everyone to stop, preordering, games, period. At least the crushing majority of them. If you give someone your money for some product that's not even there yet, what power do you have to push them to produce something that they promised?

Well, I think part of it is also that the game is legitimately shit. Here's what TB said about No Man's Sky on the Co-Optional Podcast.
https://youtu.be/kjF7LLKAn_E?t=35m25s

Here's the core problem with the core gameplay. It's all awful. Every aspect of it. I played it for about 6 hours and I'm not going to play anymore of it, and that is because I hate it. I can't think of a game in recent memory that I have hated more than this. I literally have not had a single iota of fun within 6 hours of playing this game. And I was trying to think, "Why is it that I don't like this?" And the answer to that was: there is not a single component of the core gameplay loop - that being what you do on a regular basis - that I like. There is not a single system or mechanic which feels well fleshed out or in any way satisfying to do.
