Game keeps crashing, All random nothing specific i can see triggering it.

+
I recently wanted to start playing again thanks to Netflix series. So i installed the game (I had it for a long time but got a new computer a few years back and never installed to play). Upon installation loaded up the game and continued on my last save start moving around and doing a quest and game locks up and freezes. I can still hear audio and if i move my mouse or hit like space to jump i can hear it then eventually the game just closes.

I want to keep in mind i was able to play other games fine, Ark on high graphic settings, Rust on max settings, Conan Exiles on max settings and several others, all ran perfect, all on max settings. However i did have some games where i had similar issues like this specifically Risk of Rain 2, bought it the day it came out still can't play it same similar crashes. Also Jurassic World Evolution does something similar too.

Due to this i decided to bite the bullet and reformat so i completely deleted and reinstalled win10 start with a fresh install just to say ive done it and see what happens.
Windows finished, did all windows updates. Installed latest drivers for Graphics card (1070TI) installed discord and steam then installed the game. ( I have only installed witcher 3 as i have crappy internet and can only download at 6mpbs on games on steam) start to play on ultra settings worked for a couple of minutes then the crashes started again.

Since then i have tried all low settings turned vsync off capped fps at 60, turned all overlays through nvidia off even did allocation of game files since i did grab saves from cloud that were dated back to 2017 it replaced one file. However the crashes still happen. I am at a loss, everything is fresh windows10 the install the only thing thats old is the actual save file. I havent tried a fresh new game as i dont want to start over again but i may give it a go.

here is also the crash info from Witcher 3 itself (due to 10k character limit I have attached the Red Ending Crash log text file to thread.

And also the crash report from perfmon /rel

Just for some insight even though perfmon says hardware issues, i was getting the same errors before completely wiping out and reinstalling windows10 and the game. So i was getting that same error when I was running all those other games mentioned with no problem at full graphic settings.

Here's a similar thread with some ideas:

Also, it's often better to manually lock the frame rate limit to 48 FPS (in order to do that: edit user.settings -> FPSLimit=XX)

If nothing helps, I suggest checking out the official support website:

(there you can also send a ticket to support, but please check out their suggestions first).

Having same problem. Or well had. My old issue is back with the stuttering start up. Cant even use main menu.

Got it back to work by setting frame limit back to 60 fps and disabling Gsync or setting refresh rate down to 60. Sadly..

Well, I keep posting the fix in all the topics. I guess you have either 1080 Ti or 1070 Ti?

Delete drivers and install 399.24 or 378.78 (or any below 399, I guess). GTX 1070 Ti and GTX 1080 Ti crash Witcher 3 on 400.XX+ drivers.

You can then run the game on unlimited FPS without any freezes.
