Gamebreaking Damage bug

I'm running into a glitch coming back to the game after some time away. I bought the game early when it was bug ridden and never ran into anything this gamebreaking.

None of the enemies are taking any weapon damage. I am unable to shoot any enemies and deal damage with guns. It completely stops me from finishing the tutorial level as the first robot you find is entirely immune to damage. I restarted, skipped the tutorial and got stuck in the Skav Haunt as I could stealth through and kill enemies w/ stealthkill interactions, but as soon as the big buy with the machine gun detected jackie and I it's back to shooting and he takes 0 damage from guns, but does take damage from quick hacks.

I have restarted the game and my PC, i have performed the verify/repair on my installation. I'm currently re-installing the game to see if that will have an effect, but I don't have high hopes. Has anyone run into the bug before/ have any fixes that I can try?

To be sure and if it's not what's you're doing already, perform a clean install (instead of simply uninstall/reinstall using the launcher).

No mods installed, Not sure what caused it, but the clean install did fix the issue. Damage from weapons working again. Thanks chooms!

I actually ran into a similar issue after coming back to the game recently. Enemies weren't taking any damage from guns—only quick hacks or stealth kills worked, just like you described. What ended up fixing it for me was deleting the config files in the \Documents\Cyberpunk 2077 folder and letting the game regenerate them on launch. I also made sure to disable any mods I had, since older mods can break things badly after major patches.


If you haven’t already, I’d recommend doing a clean sweep of the config files and shader cache (if there’s an option), then reinstalling the game. Hopefully that helps—it’s a super frustrating bug.

Confirming: no one used mods in the past? Removing mods will often create issues--it's in the save state of the saved game files.

If the game is 100% vanilla from the beginning, I'd send this into CDPR Support. Be sure you're selecting the correct platform (PC, Xbox, Playstation, etc.) If possible, link to a quick vid (30 seconds or so) and/or include a save file.
