Gameplay deadlock

Hi,

I'm not sure where this should be posted, so bear with me. I've been playing The Witcher Enhanced Edition (from GOG) and have got myself caught in a deadlock in Chapter 2. Long story short, I've managed to annoy Thaler and Vincent without realizing the consequences, I've also come to the wrong conclusions in the autopsy although I don't know how critical that is. I realize Raymond is the issue because the monster thingy was going mad around him. Anyway, the real problem is I can't progress without being able to talk to Vincent and Thaler and there's nothing I can do.

Stupidly, I picked exactly the wrong moment to stop hoarding save games so I can't roll back to an earlier save. I've tried using an editor to fiddle around and 'deflag' some of the quest points and where I think they might relate, but I'm using guesswork for the most part. Unfortunately whenever I try to make a consequential change the game bombs.

It's such a long game and I'm so time poor, I can't face going back and starting over. I know I'm not the first person that's had this problem. There HAS to be some way to roll back or fix this.

Thanks

Ah yes. The Witcher. I love that game but man. I had so many issues regarding the quests in that game, it's not even funny. I don't know any solution bro, I was pretty lost around that time too and had to use a walkthrough to make sure I didn't get stuck. That's how cryptic most fucking quests are. Again, I love that game but the fact that I have to spam alt+tab to progress an inch in the story, kinda kills the immersion for me. Thankfully Witcher 2 fixes all that.

I wish you much luck bro. That's easily 10 hours you've been playing. Replaying it all is annoying as hell. Hopefully a solution will be posted!

Are you saying that when you try to talk to them they say get out and you cant talk to them? If so I would do another quest then go back because that happened to me a couple of times so I would go find a mission then go back and it should allow you to talk.

Have you gone to the warehouse at midnight?
Have you spoken to Ramsmeat?
Have you talked to Kalkstein?
Have you talked to Raymond about the suspects?
How far are you with the sephirots?

You don't need to roll back; you need to roll FORWARD. ;)

You can still progress even if you've made a less-than-optimum choice in the autopsy; the game is designed so that any choice you make will work out.

Characters often get mad at you if you accuse them of something, but they get over it. ;) Go do some side quests, talk to some other suspects, find some more sephirot stones, make progress of some kind. Thaler and Vincent should start talking to you again.

Once the OP has replied to this thread, I'll move it to the TW1 Plot and Quests Discussion: Chapter 2 section, where it belongs.

Thanks everyone for their responses.

I've informed Raymond of the autopsy results (that's when I realized he's the problem).

While I have 8 of the Sephirah, I can't get one of them because apparently I need to complete Vizima Confidential. I can't complete the Monoliths or Mysterious Tower because I can't get all the Sephirah. I don't think I can go anywhere further with Kalkstein until I complete them or get some other evidence. There's nothing more I can say to Ramsmeat either. I've already exonerated Vivaldi and Leuvaarden. Vincent won't talk and I've exhausted everything with Thaler.

I can't complete the Alghoul contract or The Gravediggers Gratitude as I can't get into the cemetery because I can't get a pass from Thaler or the City Guards. I'm not sure about the Echinops contract because I think I killed most of them already without collecting the roots.

I will persevere with what other quests are available until something changes. I'm happy to keep trying so long as I haven't worked my way into a dead end.

This is not true; you won't complete the Vizima Confidential quest until the Tower is open, so you don't need to finish up this quest in order to get all of the sephirot stones. Where are you in the Vizima Confidential quest? What does your journal say right now?

There are Alghouls in the Swamp at night.

Have you had the party at Shani's house? If not, go talk to Shani.

Have you fought the golem? If not, go talk to Vaska and/or Kalkstein.

Chapter 2 is big, and everything is interconnected. Some characters -- especially Kalkstein, Vaska, and Raymond -- must be talked to multiple times.

(Oh, and if you get tired of running back and forth between the Temple Quarter and the Swamp during this chapter, there's a mod for that.)

Now moving this to the TW1 Plot and Quests Discussion: Chapter 2 section.
