Gameplay Thread - NO FPP/TPP talk for a change.

+
The gameplay as Corporate would delve into one of the most fascinating aspects about Cyberpunk, Mega-corporations. The wars between corporations are always violent and espionage is constant, so we wouldn't have to sit behind a desk for the class, it'd be just as engaging as other classes. No need to come up with an entirely new story either, just a different perspective for the already existing story.

Not sure if mods will allow so if you're willing to scrap this thread/merge it with the main one - go ahead.
I'm quite tired of the whole perspective talk (even though I am quite disappointed myself) and it seems like the tumult that appeared after the news is taking over all the threads everywhere.
Here, I would like to talk about all the gameplay details and journalists' impressions WITHOUT it drowning in the perspective talk. Focus on all the revealed tidbits about the world, gameplay, story, etc.
First longer impression by IGN has revealed some interesting stuff, actually.
There are tons of abilities to use during combat, including bullet ricocheting and a bullet time slow down that came in handy quite a bit during the 45 minute demo I saw.
Quite interesting seems like we will get some active abilities kind of like Deus Ex.
One cool moment was when the player took out an enemy stealthily, then jacked directly into him to get a schematic of the base they were fighting through, hacking various systems to cause havoc.
Sounds absolutely amazing. Good to see hacking will be useful in combat too.
You get to customize V’s backstory as well, and instead of more typical options you might expect, there are questions like picking your “Childhood Hero.”
After gamespot interview I was a bit worried we will get a shallow, meaningless system, like in ME. Glad to see this is pointing against it.
All the while, the option to just grab the gun and start a fight persisted, but the player was able to talk their way through without conflict.
Finally. What I've been waiting for. Even though it's not specifically stated, it seems like dialogue system is much wider and more open than TW3. Yum.
They happened to say that right after V carried a naked women she had rescued for a job out of a building, and during a cutscene where we then see V waking up in the morning in nothing but her underwear. You can read between the lines for yourself, but it sounds like… let’s call it “romance” options will be in Cyberpunk too.
This has me worried. V rescued a naked woman and then... had sex with her? Just like that? Seems a bit tasteless to me.

Overall, this got me super excited - looking forward to seeing more gameplay.

EDIT. Nvm, mods have sorted the situation whilst I was writing the post. Pls move and forgive :))

Yeah I had my heart set on Corp as well. Maybe the other classes will be added later when they release expansions or if they manage to get them working with the main narative? One can only hope.

Graphically I'd say it looks great.

I'm seriously concerned it's designed such that shooting or stealthing your way thru the game are pretty much your only options with the occasional "you can talk your way out of this" scene.

It also, at this point, sounds like the skills in the game center around combat or B&E. So much for "role play".

Yay! Backstory/Lifepath ... I hope it's at least a bit more then purely cosmetic.

So it sounds like we will be able to assign our skill attributes, who knows how much depth. Looking forward to being able to determine our life path and backstory, I hope its somewhat similar to the level of complexity like in 2020. Will be nice to see that tie in seamlessly and actually make an impact. It would be nice to have the game have 'infinite' replay value due to the changes you can make with your character from early development to interactions throughout the experience

What I'm REALLY happy about is how much CDPR are emphasising it's an RPG, not an FPS. Even with The Witcher 3 they would always say ActionRPG, without much emphasis on "RPG" in their reports.
Good sign

A Techie or Netrunner, you can do wonders with the right technology and skills.

Thanks! May I ask what the difference is between those two? I'm not at all familiar with Cyberpunk classes so it all sounds a bit like meaningless jargon to me.

Techie:

Netrunner

A techie is a pretty versatile character where you are very crafty and adaptive to technology so you can disassemble, repair, and modify things. Being able to reverse engineer objects, weapons, and systems will be quite valuable in the Cyberpunk universe. There is also a branch for 'medtechie' to more more attune to the medical side of things.

A netrunner is a hacker that can breach different security systems and networks to unveil things such as corporate secrets. They are also responsible for the 'brain-frying' in the trailer. A netrunner can be pretty versatile too as they can essentially hack into any device and network and take control of systems and bend them to their will.

Thank you! They both sound interesting. I guess I will wait for some class gameplay to see which one I like best.

With what is written up so far from previews does it seem you can break away from dialogue or talking segments and either fight, just walk, run away? Or are we just locked into these moments until said dialogue sequence is over ( I hope not)?

It sounds like there is going to be a great deal more verticality in CP77 than we usually get in RPG's. Overall I imagine the footprint of the game will be smaller than we see in games like Watchdog/GTA, but it will be more than offset by the sheer density of the world.

Looks very ActionRPG to me and also sounds a lot more constrained in the character creation than I would have liked. Is it absolutely confirmed that your character is called V with no option to change that?

Edit - It's been so long since I've even looked at these forums and the format has changed and I have no idea what I'm doing.
