Gamestop preorder copy and Steam DLC..

Hello guys,
Yesterday i ve noticed the avaibility of the "Expansion Pack" on Steam for the two massive DLC for TW3.
I have already preordered the game on Gamestop at day-one, but i would like to know what happens if I buy the DLC pack on steam in these days.

I will be able to play them once i will physically install the game from the discs (when they ll arrive)?
Im always a little bit confused about game releases and their respective integration on Steam.

Thanks

Hi,

The retail version of the game (PC) will only be compatible with the Expansion Pass bought from GOG.com.

The Steam version is separate.

does the retail version provide a GOG key? My rig doesn't have a DVD drive anymore, but i did buy the collector's edition. if necessary, i'll buy a usb drive (and steam copy of the game, and GOG copy of the game, etc.)

That's what I'm secretly counting on, though probably won't be case right after release.

Interesting. I wasn't aware GameStop sold physical copies of pc games. With that said, I'll never buy anything from GameStop again.

And as for the retail version providing a GOG key, I certainly hope so.

GOG seem to have updated their TW3 page in the last couple of days, I assume because of the expansion packs, but as at 5th April it stated:
Will I be able to redeem a backup copy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on GOG.com?

The backup program for The Witcher: Wild Hunt is not planned any time soon, for sure not around release time. It was a one time action for The Witcher and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. It might happen sometime in the future, but, currently, it's not in our plans.

There's no reason to think that's changed.

Wait for the retail version to come and then buy the dlc(the steam version).
But if you have already purchased the dlc then go check weather the retail version is steam support or not.
Its like this
retail steam= dlc steam.
Retail gog=dlc gig.
For the rest below invalid.
Retail steam=dlc gog.(and vise versa)

This was a joke right? Unless I somehow misinterpret what you mean by "physical copy."

From Gamestop website: "GameStop is the world's largest video game retailer. With over 6,100 stores located throughout the United States and 17 countries, we are the retail destination for gamers around the world."

So retailer. Yeah, that means selling physical copies of games. PC games as well. Well, I certainly hope nothing has changed since I preordered my Collector's edition at Gamestop.

Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be a joke. I thought they sold pc games digitally and not physically. It'd seem I learned something new today.

Oh. Well I buy all my PC games from them. So yeah, they do have physical copies. ^_^ I only have good experiences from dealing with them btw.

Speaking about Gamestop, I just read that people who buy the game from Gamestop will get an EXCLUSIVE game map.

I really, really hoped the Xbox One CE excklusive stuff would stay the only such thing. But I guess capitalism reigns supreme in the end anyway...
