I don't care if there are drugs in a game, but I can just imagine the outrage now. Any game deemed to be "promoting drug culture" is not going to be happy in the American market.
Genius.Ah ha, but the trailer that started all this mess reminds us that this great epiphany as you call it generally comes at the price of a lot of messy meat dissection at the mall... Come ot think of it... I'm a hot cyborg lady, going down the street to get a futuristic soda of some kind.... In my underwear. Why am I just wearing my underwear? Holy crap, this is one of those dreams where I forget to put on clothes before I leave my apartment. Okay, just gotta wake up. Stupid implants making me think all kinds of weirdne--DAMNIT I'M NOT DREAMING!!!!! I'm awake and I forgot to put on clothes again! Damnit! What the hell do I do now? They are all staring at me! They've seen me with hardly nothing on! Every single one of these people is probably carrying no less than 3 cameras a piece! I GOT IT! Cyberpsychosis. I'll just pop out my rippers.... there we go. Now everybody'll pay attention to only that.... Crap, they are running. Better make this look good.
WOW!!! WOW, humans are filled with a LOT of blood! Holy crap! Aw, Jeez... Here come the news people and... AH! What the hell!? DID YOU JUST SHOOT ME IN THE FACE!!?!?!? YOU SON OF A BITCH!!! I HATE COPS!!! I HATE EM!!! PIGGY BASTARDS!!!! .....Aw crap. There's one standing right behind me, isn't there?
This is actually a perfect summary of how pretty much 100% of game systems treat drugs purely as a +/- relationship. It seems all drugs / chemicals mean you have to balance wanted effects and side effects. The positive effects may outweigh the side effects in some instances but not others. Might be interesting to include some part of this?
Coffee give you energy but you can't sleep. Alcohol opens people and and works as a social lubricant, but makes people do things they regret. Opiates are effective pain killers but are addictive. Etc. P
Although I understand that it's easier to write the effects of recreational pharmaceuticals as a min/max gameplay thing (see: Fallout 3,) I too would like to see a deeper story-related mechanic (and consequence?...) for indulging said vices. This is actually a perfect summary of how pretty much 100% of game systems treat drugs purely as a +/- relationship.
I hope the game deals with drugs and addiction in a deeper way, floating at this simplified game system layer of okay +4 strength it's gonna be -6 strength later.
Well yea, cybernetics affect the body, drugs affect body chemistry. Plus drugs are a lot cheaper than getting cybered up.Well in the old CP2020 Corebook there was a full Chapter dedicated to Drugs. I guess it should be a part of the Game. Indeed Alchemy in Witcher Serie worked well hence I see somehting could be done for Drugs too in CP2077. However I guess it could be redudant: we will have cyberwear do you think there will be still place for something like drugs?
Oh, ffs. That's JUST what we need....like Blue Glass, which is basically LSD and Ecstasy rolled into one...
sounds interestingDrugs are going to mostly recreational, the same as they are today... and that should be reflected in the game, as opposed to drugs that all give some boost to abilities, l..... while their may indeed be some combat drugsike Black Lace, which acts like Angel Dust and meth., most of the drugs out there should just get you fucked up, and that should be what's prevalent... like Blue Glass, which is basically LSD and Ecstasy rolled into one...
you mean we should have our own drug laboratory? It would be awesome if you could create your own drugs based on your nessecity within the game instead of just buying them, that could add to the game.
And it would be naked chicks processing the drugs like in movies and stuff. I've never looked up what's the 'usefulness' of this, but I don't need a reason.you mean we should have our own drug laboratory?
Hypothetically it's so they can't pocket product....And it would be naked chicks processing the drugs like in movies and stuff. I've never looked up what's the 'usefulness' of this, but I don't need a reason.
I never saw Matrix....so what do you mean? Can you explain?maybe someone posted about something similar already, but parallels between drugs and cyberspace might be interesting. Remember the matrix scene where Neo asks for a phone call?
:/I never saw Matrix....so what do you mean? Can you explain?
Such a thing is wholly possible, even today... though it's usefulness would be somewhat limited... I mean, if you are wearing the armor, then no matter how good it is, presumably you know if you got shot...and you can probably get a pretty good idea of the shape the armor is in by how much it hurt... Not to mention, in terms of reality and the pen and paper game, for the more common armors it would seem to be a bit of an expensive addition, with little to offer... but for the more expensive outfits, dry clean only of course, it seems like a pretty good idea, although again redundant..... And for the more expensive armors, particularly the ones made to look like normal clothes, once it's been shot, it's pretty much useless at passing for normal clothes, unless you are the type to spend a couple of grand to look like a homeless person....I've been thinking about 'legitimate' reasons to have an amrour monitor in the HUD.
I think the simplest idea would boil down to, for want of better words, 'Smart Armour'. Each peice of amrour could have a layer of nanofibre mesh in it that is linked to a processor. This in turn sends information to an Armour Integrity Monitor, (AIM for short,) which will display that information for you on whatever it is hooked up to.
I think that it woud be reasonable for this sort of advancement to take place. In 2020 there were plenty of uplinks for vehicles, weapons and other devices that could tell you all sorts of information about the object in question. This seems a logical step to me.
Not only does this potentially give us a means to monitor our own armour's condition, but we can also 'unplug' from our worn armour and hook in to other armours that we 'aquire' to see their condition after we have relieved their former occupants of it.
Opinions?
