[GENERAL] Are you a doggy Killer?

Was just wondering what peoples take was on this quest in act 2:The graveyard keeper wants me to go out and senselessly kill 10 dogs!I grappled with the thought for a moment, then snuck upon an unsuspecting little harmless dog and slaughtered it.It died with a little whimper. It really never had a fighting chance. Then I just couldn't bring myself to do it again.I suppose this makes me a horrible witcher.Did you guys kill the 10 dogs for a measly handfull of xp and cash? just wondering...

Just an advice. Download and play the "Side Effects" module, then you'll have another perspective on those "little harmless" bastards.

Once it were only 6 pieces of dog tallow. But there are 10 wolfpelts.Yes I feel a bit queasy to kill dogs... neverless Geralt needs the Orens  But if you have the patience you will find dog tallow in several chests, cupboards etc. and sometimes thugs and Salamanders have it as loot.

I got the amount needed and left the rest alone! :-\

There's one unit of dog tallow in Chapter I, and at least three more in Chapter II (look in houses). Also, some Salamanders carry them for some reason, so patrolling the streets at night and killing thugs might help you meet the dog tallow quota without having to kill a single dog. ;)

The first play through, I killed just enough to complete the quest and felt guilty as, I swear, my own dogs gave me bad looks. :-[The next few times, completed the quest and didn't feel so bad. :-\Now I kill them whenever I need more Tallow with no hint of regret, as they seem to respawn readily.

Glad to hear i'm not the only one feeling guilty for killing dogs eventhough i don't have my own dog to give me dirty looks(voylodion). Also Geralt is into monster slaying, not animal control. However at the risk of sounding nerdy and lame, perhaps those dogs carry the plague and by killing them i am saving someone else?yea, think i will take said advice and try and find the rest of the tallow instead of dog slaying. ;D

Counterquestion: Does anybody here feel bad about killing the yodanoi? They are animals, just like humans (not sure about elves and dwarves...).Furhtering that thought: Is it the fact that dogs are actual animals, or because they are known pets?Wolfs are animals, anbody feel bad about killing them?Anywayn, I just slaughterd all the dogs I could find. Wound up with about 13 dog tallows :D

I have never killed a single dog. I adore dogs in real life, and there's no way my Geralt is going to slaughter them. If I find enough dog tallow, I give it to the Gravedigger. If I don't find enough, I don't complete the quest.Silver, if I walk near a wolf, it runs towards me with blood in its eye. Anything that attacks me first is fair game -- they started it. But the dogs have blue circles, not red ones -- they aren't out to get us. I even feel bad about killing Hildegard Komstock's husband's wraith, because he has a blue, neutral circle. I think I might not accept that quest next time (especially since he seems nicer than she does).

I don't remember any bad dogs in "Side Effects." Have I forgotten so quickly, or do you mean Deirdre's pets in "Price of Neutrality"? Those are wolves, not dogs.

Yup, a dog killer and no qualms about it.From a pracitcal side of things:* They are worth money, not much but it still badly needed orens* Five point grease is expensive, dog tallow is free* Its a game. No pixels were harmed during its creationFrom a personal view:* The useless animals keep blocking stairs!* They get underfoot when I'm trying to kill assassins* I dont like floppy eared dogs in general. German shepherds and Kelpies all the way :)But dogs are nothing really...why cant we kill (or kick into orbit) those BLOODY MONKEYS which do the annoying little dance when fighting barghests.

Not fussed about the dogs, but I usually just can't be bothered.Maybe at the end of the act there isn't enough tallow found.I used to make piles of oils, but I found that I rarely end up using them. So meh @ tallow for that purpose.Usually, it's something like 4 oils in the whole game.Although I got some giggles when I was asked this question some months ago, when I responded with "both swords are for monsters. That's why I killed the dogs with an axe."

Really? Huh, I never had any trouble with them. I mean, I had to
give the guard dog pot roast to get inside
, but they never actually did anything to me.

When Geralt came to Murky Waters and met first the friendly Vodjanoi I had nothing against this race. Later when he saw the other Vodjanoi, he had no intension to kill them but as they were aggro towards Geralt he killed them without hesitation... self defense

I did the same
sacked the merchant's house , then the next night they got really pissed off and attacked me. Lucky that Axii works like a charm on dogs. They teamed on me once and i got gangraped. A bug, perhaps ?

Nooooo :( Like Corylea, I love dogs, and I couldn't bear to have Geralt maliciously harming little furry friends :(I just waited patiently, eventually I accumulated enough dog tallow anyway.

The first time I decided to make oils I kind of over did it. Think I had about 200 jugs of dog's lard. :evil:I always finish with way more ingredients and potions than I need.
