I felt very guilty for slaying the dogs, but I really badly needed orens(and xp). Good news is that second time was much easier. :DBut...there is certain dog in swamp. In my language version, he´s entitled "annoying dog". He follows Geralt during the quest to accompany Gramps to Melitele's Shrine. I´m always sorry that he dies, because Geralt meets great Archespore on the way. I was wondering if anyone managed to keep him alive...:)

Am I a doggy killer? Well yes, I am. At least, only in the game.I didn't have any qualms killing the strays. Quite possibly, it is crueler to let them over-populate Vizima (starvation is a horrible, horrible way to die). The quest said to get Dog Tallow, I got the Dog Tallow. When I first played it, I finished this quest before realising that Dog Tallow could be found elsewhere than the dogs. The simple fact of the matter is this: Dog Tallow makes good oil bases. If there was bears to kill for bear fat, I'd kill them too. And geese. Geralt, Witcher, professional geese-slayer lol.The dogs re-spawn endlessly. There is no repercussions game-wise for their wholesale slaughter (though it would be funny to be attacked by a super version of the Wereworlf Vincent for killing too many).I am a dog person in real life, and yes I feel guilty each time they yelp on death, but really the killing of dogs in this game wasn't a moral issue to me.

No, of course it's not a moral issue. I just adore dogs too madly to be able to kill even pixilated dogs. I mean, if we don't pretend that the game is real, then it's not much fun to play, is it?

I've done the dogs the two times I've been through act 2 but felt very bad about it both times. It doesn't matter that they respawn, it's still killing (nearly) defenseless and peaceful creatures. I've decided not to do them in this time (in EE).

I never enjoyed taking the lives of poor doggies, but I had to see my duties done!

It's funny but the doggies are another example of how good TW is.The way they realise that you're after them and flee. So you hunt them down and corner them and they back into the corner and give you the "please don't" look and maybe a last defiant growl before you run your blade through them and hear that satisfying yelp.

how did you find this one?Dogs (those who survived the Dog tallow quest) snarl at my Geralt whenever he passes one further in the game. Is this coincidence because the dogs know what Geralt has done or do they snarl at him as well when didn't do the quest?

Doctor Demento was an old radio programme that had a lot of humourous songs. I just happened to recall that one. Glad you enjoyed it. ;) "Fish Heads" is another they played. Yum!~ Roxy

That would be great if when you complete the doggy quest, play the whole game and at the very end of the game the hunter said something like:"Not this time witcher! YOU who slay INOCENT and cute dogs for simple tallow have REALLY underminded my authority and pissed me off like no other!"Then the hunter simply chops your head off, and you don't get to finish the game the end ;D

An extremely hostile pixelated dog that killed people -- that's a very different thing!

And how many times did the beast attack Geralt, until Geralt pulled his sword out - Zero. Granted it attacked the peasants - but they deserved it. ;)Oh sure, you could try and claim it made the Barghests attack, but notice how every time the beast appears and howls the Barghests attack a few moments later. It was probably trying to warn Geralt of an impending attack. And the circle of fires was its attempt to keep the Reverend, Odo, et al from attacking the witcher. But nooooo, just because its a big dog covered in flames people assume its okay to kill it. Did you kill Vincent as well? He turned into a big dog after all ;D

Anyone noticed that the dogs in the swamp have no tallow? The only one I found was on the body of that "nosy dog" that follows you when you first arrive. Don't worry, I didn't kill that dog, the coccadidium did. :(
