[GENERAL] Dicepoker, Drinking, Fistfighting

+
Go play w/ the dwarf in the Hairy Bear (not Zoltan, the other one) and see for yourself.
i have.over 20 consecutive hands.he's NEVER thrown away 3 of a kind to completely re-roll his hand.ever.not on hard, or adding the other 30+ times I played him on medium.the AI makes mistakes, but not THAT bad past ch1.the only person I've ever seen re-roll 3 of a kind is Odo, on medium difficulty. Moreover, Thaler makes far fewer mistakes than the bouncer at the inn, so obviously the devs have paid some attention to the algorithms used for dice for different players. so saying:
generally play without any logic to their actions
is just as much BS as what the other idiot said.so is saying the bouncer in the Inn never folds. he does.so yeah, my call stands, what trollboy said is BS. You seem willing to add to it. It's starting to stink in here.
Furthermore, though opponents who get beaten for a certain number of Orens will exhaust their pool and not continue to play
of course, speaking of exploits, all you then have to do is leave the area and come back (exit the inn and go right back in, for example), and your opponent's wallet is refilled.

I'm not sure if I'm stuck or not...In my quest bar it says i need to look for a tougher challenge, but I haven't fought against the " tougher fighter " yet. Every time I try and talk to him nothing happens. As for the fighting style:I find it easiest to hold in right mouse to duck.. as soon as they swipe, i let go and lay a punch (or keep left button pressed to load up a super punch) I haven't lost one yet ... and as the previous guy said, i also managed to knock some out with 1 punch.

That happened to me in Chapter four for some reason. I just meditated a few hours, then left the inn and came back in and he was ready to fight. Somehow I've managed to beat all but the last guy, not to that chapter yet, without knowing a thing in the world heeh, but I am playing on medium this first play through. Interesting to read these strategies though, as I got a hunch gonna need them for the last fight.

There's a huge exploit in fistfights that I mentioned in an old thread. After you punch the guy, tap the right mouse button and then hit left mouse button again. Repeat. Win. It's that simple. You can win any fistfight without any of the talents, without getting hit once.[edit]They might've fixed it in 1.2[/edit][edit2]Nope, they didn't, I just tried it.[/edit2]

Using Blizzard helps with fistfight, too.Just sip the potions before you start a fight. It's technically cheating - but to hell with honor ;-)
I believe if you read the banter, the opponents clearly state the "only rule is no rule." From my standpoint, that's not cheating. ;DAlthough I haven't used Blizzard, a Swallow can be nice. The boxing animation is a little tough to get used to. Gave up on screwing with it in "Easy" mode. Went back in "medium" and kicked butt. There's a bit of a learning curve. Once you figure it out, it's like using the Force, young padawan.

I regulaly win fights without taking a single punch, get your mouse on him and make sure you get in the first punch then wait until your mouse icon goes to the punch icon with the star effect then it will change to the circle icon. As soon as it does that hit him again.Time it right and your opponent will never hit you :)

just hit him when his animation starts, it always interrupts and you get a hit. that's how I won every fight without taking a hit.it's a little cheap but effective.

How about if you play on hard? What is the visual queue then? ???

Its the same for all difficulty mods.I'd like to see a fix to that :-[

I find fist fights to be piss easy no matter who I'm fighting (Medium difficulty). It's only been close once, not even a named one. The rest of the time they were push overs.

It would have been a nice touch to have cards marked with a dice logo in the characters inventory so you could keep track of who you have played. The same way you get cards and characters of the girls marked with a heart logo when you've had fun with them.

I'm pretty sure someones already asked, I didn't searched in whole forum but ..Dice poker is some ultimate way to get orens quickly (saving before you play, of course), but why the hell your opponent gets better play than you, like 90% of time ? They all got problems with wifes / husbands, right ? I.e I got three of a kind, I roll the 2 others. I stay at the 3 of a kind. Opponent (any, opponent, till know) had nothing to a couple of pairs. He rolls the whole set, and gets Four of a kind, full house, whatever, but better. This happens with any starting bet (I was thinking : 3 starting bets, little, middle, high, so 3 difficulty levels ...), and often, really often. So, cheated ?

really, not true. I'm very good at dice poker, and 90 proc I do win. Just look what you roll. Taking less risk means you roll just those dises who don't have pairs, taking more - rolling the ones who has pairs (for that you collect a high smth). Just de Vett was a problem for me to beat up, but later did him too, so I don't thing dice cheats :)
Same for me. Some times they get incrediable third or even two rolls, but then.. so do I :) . Heck there have been times I sat there and had nothing and managed to roll one dice to a full house heeh. Just cause I had nothing to loose by trying it. Now that's what I call luck and sometimes my opponent has the same, but mostly is as Wisperwind said. I learned to become one cause I am so short of money in chapt two as a rule and spend a LOT of time playing to get armor and sword upgrades and the books you need for the quests.

I'm only in the dice playing for the quest and for the money. So i cheat outrageously: I save beforehand, bet to the maximum, and reload if I end up losing. ;DMost of the time I don't need to reload... so I think it's just you, Mad. :dead:

It may be. Gonna use some pen to click the mouse, so my fingers don't come in (question of luck, ahaha). But just now, in Act III, I won against the Hierophant at first attempt, same for De Wett (son of a ... uhm no I hate the Order from my readings of Zapkowsky), then became a pro, went to Gambling Den, figuring I could earn a huge there. Kosker told me "only large at this table", Ok, I'm in ...Large with 25 orens maximum bet ? bah. I also won in one attempt against him, and the other gambler in house I could challenge

That's not cheating, its what every sane player of the game does. :p

But in this game there is no need for a reloads, thats the beauty of the dice poker. Its even better to loose the first or even second time. Opponents are getting bolder then, and stakes are much higher. That way you can win more in less time.

Not true. If I have enough cash to back me up, I deliberately lose a few times. The way the betting works, if you make three maximum bets and finally win, you always make a slight profit. But ... if your opponent rolls an awesome hand (straight+) on their first roll, and the maximum bets are huge, they'll still raise a few times.I've managed to make over 3000 orens in 5 games this way .. granted, five normal games will get you over 1000, it's still 3x the profit.

Hmm... well, everyone who says that if you lose then you can win more is perfectly correct. However, you're basically winning back the money you lost the first time(s). So your overall profit (assuming you play until your opponent has no money left) will be that same, the only difference is the number of games it takes to get there....personally I think there's too much that's good in the game to spend hours staring at a dice table... ;)
