[GENERAL] Finishing Moves

How many of these are there?I saw a new one last night when Geralt finished one of the assassins in Chapter 2 by using the dagger he had strapped to his leg and repeatedly stabbing him. The ones I have witnessed, and can remember, are:1. Decapitation2. Shoulder jump/backflip off3. Twist the opponent around, slash at the knees and then slit throat4. Reverse sword and two handed kill with the hilt end5. Sword into stomach with repeated thrusts6. Quick thrust into a prone opponent after knockdown7. Repeated stabs with alternate weaponI'm certain there are others, anyone remember them?

There's also another version of hilt bash Geralt does vs. some knocked-down creatures like kikimore and wraith. He grabs the sword by the blade and then bashes the creature on the ground with the hilt. Doesn't happen vs. humanoids.

How do you get him to do this?! I only managed it ONCE... and that was in the tutorial for "Coup de Grace"! I've not managed it since then, even if my opponent is stunned... what exactly should I be pressing, and when?

I right click on the opponent using Aard with (at least) the Stun enhancement and then left click as normal when he/she/it is stunned.

I recently did a couple of "Coup de grace's" with a torch. :) Victims: Drowners. Place: Sewers. Type of stun: Knockdown. Animation: Looked like a regular bash with the torch.(Btw: I think it is strange that the drowner-repelling talisman works sometimes and doesn't work at other times...)

that was my bread and butter in the swamp with the blodzueigers. id round up ph id say about 15 drowners, couple blodzueigers, stun and killed the big guy, everyone would drop at once

hm, you guys are pro, I have never thought about that. I do finishing moves too but dont pretty much care........ And I didnt level Aard so much ecause my idea was to get the igni before all other signs. I like damaging multiple enemies and also---the incineratiopn :p ]:->

igni is really usefull, but if you use aard good - you need nothing more :D (unleas you don't colect flints for fire making)

I really underestimated the usefulness of Aard at first. Against creatures which aren't resistant to stun/knockdown attempts, it's a powerful weapon. During my first run through the game, I used Igni almost exclusively, and only discovered the power of Aard when I started experimenting with different tactics.Btw, love your new signature ;)

Spending 6 talents on Aard in the first chapter makes things ridiculously easy. Ghouls? Stun. Ozzrel? Stun. Nadir? Stun. Anything else? Stun. You get the picture...

Yup, very effective :) Too bad it doesn't work well on the beast (at least for me)

Considering that the first time I played (restarted some way into Ch3 after the new patch came out), I didn't upgrade Aard before the Blue-Eyes quest, so Ozzrel and the Beast were rather interesting opponents, to say the least. Kicked both down without much trouble, though.

You also playing Hard difficulty? :)Maybe I was just unlucky then (or rather I was not under the Place of Power and Petri's Philter effect)

Unlucky, I suppose. Many people have reported that the Beast can be stunned fairly easily. It's supposedly easier if you wound it first. As far as difficulty, there is no difficulty but hard worth playin. ;D

Gotta say, the first time Geralt whacked some guy's head off kinda surprised me. I mean, I'd seen him use the hilt, and spin 'em around and slash their knees before he slit their throat, but I gotta say seeing that head fly across the room is one of the more... lasting lets say, memories ;D But damn it's good fun

Hi all,I've recently finished playing through the Witcher(medium) using only ingi, and the aard when i found obstacles. I've heard of fantastic finishing moves when killing enemies yet I haven't done anything to my knowledge that resembles a finishing move, except when stabbing wolves at the beginning. While fighting different enemies I basically slash away at them using the chaining the strikes with timed clicks and then the enemy goes limp and falls down. Either that or I use igni and he also just goes limp and dies. What do i have to do to get these "finishing moves"?

You mostly get finishing moves when your opponent is stunned, so sometimes you get one if you Aard an enemy. There are also weapons that have a variety of special effects, so you're more likely to see a finishing move if you're using something other than the plain steel and silver swords. That said, I don't think they're very common. Or if they are, I'm playing wrong, since I see maybe a handful of finishing moves per game. They're worth watching for, though -- the one where Geralt stands on his enemy's chest and plunges his sword straight down is just amazing.

Here's a clip with some of the things you're talking about. :)http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=gzrkwAtufqk&feature=relatedFrom my experience, generally speaking, you won't see them much at all when using your two swords in normal situations, *unless* you actively orchestrate it. Like in the video clip, using Aard to stun opponents or knock them down is how you would be able to set them up for one. I guess an exception to that would be the talent you can put into Group styles where you have a chance to knock down enemies if you're fighting at least 3 or more. I think the finshing moves are random, but that keeps it fun and entertaining! Check out the one in this clip where the enemy is on the floor, Geralt stabs his sword into the ground and uses a dagger on the foe. Though one of my favourites is leaping onto them, delivering a final blow and backflipping off them.http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=JxYjS7XK7oM&feature=related

Too bad the devs didn't add a bomb finishing move, like stuffing a devil's puffball down a salamander's throat or shoving a zerrikanian sun up a temerian soldier's butt!

They already have to worry about transgressing local standards against gore; just imagine the outcry if a bad guy exploded into a zillion bloody fragments. Might be fun. :) I'm not especially fond of gore, but I'm especially UNfond of bluenoses.
