Isn't that strange that Geralt uses his silver sword when fighting the Wild Hunt? They are elves, not monsters

Silver works against monsters because they're all extra-dimensional beings. The Wild Hunt is infused with that sort of energy from top to bottom.

Don't want to spoil the game for you, but they are elves (as mentioned in witcher 2, too). You'll get to see that their skeleton-like faces are just some fancy helmets.

I think the reason why he uses a silver sword is because of the armor that the Wild Hunt uses. It's imbued with magic so steel sword won't be able to penetrate it. Please correct me if I'm wrong or off as I have not read the books yet.

Hounds are Relicts. The warriors would be too I guess (if you are using silver, the hanged man's oil which you'd ordinarily use against elves can't be applied).

Yeah it's weird. There's also a bug where they are vulnerable to Draconid oil as opposed to Specter oil, or what would be more appropriate, Hanged Mans Venom.

If I'm not mistaken the Wild Hunt comes from the same sphere as the monsters come from. So that's probably why silver works against them.

Considering that the silver sword is for post conjunction monsters and the wild hunt would theoretically fall into that category, since they can only cross dimensions via magic/portals, I dont think its strange at all, despite them not being specters, unlike in TW1. Besides - the fact he only had his silver sword left didnt keep Geralt from killing Jacques de Aldersberg in TW1. The steel sword is merely more convenient for opponent who dont require a silver sword to be killed. Silver will still get the job done though. A sword is a sword after all.
