Geralt is stealing from 6yo children!?

I was in Skellige, found a body amidst some ruins (Questname: Inheritance, Treasurehunt). Searching the body i found a letter. A dying man was writing his last words to his six years old son. Saying he won't make it, won't be able to teach him the important things you need to survive in a harsch land, saying live will be tough for the litte one, but he is leaving him some valuables and blade, hidden in a chest. The key was with him. So i found the chest, collected the stuff, and expected the quest to progress into a search of the son. But hell it did! The quest was finished! And Rockefeller-Geralt is carrying a Relic blade with him (which is completely useless for him) and doesn't even care about the poor kid? Come on CDPR!

The house - which is very close to the father's corpse - is burnt down/destroyed to the ground... in fact, the whole village is. This indicates that the child and the leftover family will probably never return to this place or are dead as well. At least I explain it to myself this way.

I don't think this was the village they lived, since there was the corpse, and there would be no reason to write a letter. In any case it felt like a loose end to me.
