Geralt of Rivia ( Spoilers from books and games )

+
Whiny growler in BoF and ToS, but radiated badassery on Thanedd and in Stygga castle :)

Speaking of games, TW2 has the most epic boss fights, so let's be it
Thanedd is probably my favorite part of the books. How he slaughters that Scoia'tael unit :geraltfeelgood:.... delicious
Though I'll go with Witcher 2 Geralt as well. Letho was his worthiest opponent imo and he successfully solved this task,

But he want her for Reasons of state it`s not just to talk, end if its in part of conversation you didn`t pick then it`s lie

Well Geralt might actually believe that Emhyr isn't going to force her to do anything. And if we're being generous here, we should remember that Geralt is not always the brightest individual, and that Emhyr did give Geralt and Yennefer a pardon -- even though it went against reasons of state -- because he didn't want to completely ruin his relationship with Ciri.

As much as Geralt obviously loathes Emhyr, I think you could still argue that he believes Emhyr won't hurt Ciri, and that therefore she should at least her him out and decide for himself. I don't think Geralt does a good job of explaining himself that way, though.

I understand that, just my issue is cuz he say He promised me which never happen and it`s not true, he should say to her hear him out what he has to say or something like that.

That is true maybe i should name thread Geralt of Rivia dumbest witcher in universe

@Dragonbird

Could you be so kind to create Geralt-related thread for art, screenshots and etc? Like Triss's and Yenn's one. Or will we post art in this thread?

In which situations you think Geralt is dumb

Owl with demeritum shackle - Geralt you idiot you never thought it could be Phillipa

For me it's a tie between W2 and W3 Geralt, perhaps leaning towards W2. Although that voting is not that's not fair to the other options because I haven't finished all the books and W1 is kind of a distant memory...

Why not make a poll btw?

Also speaking of books, gotta love him at the end of BoF, how he was knighted by Meve, and his explanation, "it just seemed to happen"

Although, tbh, counting books and the three games he probably has more remarkable one-liners than Schwarzenegger in Terminator.

TW2 for me

That's the cover for the enhanced edition of W2 if I'm not mistaken.

Thanedd is probably my favorite part of the books. How he slaughters that Scoia'tael unit

That part was very good indeed
Also beheaded Artaud Terranova :)

That was so funny. When she asked him who he was, he was like just 'Geralt'. And after few angry words, she knighted him as 'Geralt of Rivia' lol.
There is also one more very funny moment in BoF for me, when Geralt realizes that he is stuck with his company :)

'The hell with all of you' The Witcher finally said, sticking his spoon into his bootleg. 'The hell with all of you, you cooperative fallowship of idiots, united by a common goal which none of you understand. And the hell with me too'. This time the others, following Cahir's example, also remained tactfully silent. Dandelion, Maria Barring, also known as Milva, and Emiel Regis Rohellec Terzieff-Godefroy.
'What a company i ended up with' Geralt continued, shaking his head. 'Brothers in arms! A team of heroes! What have i done to deserve it? A poetaster with a lute. A wild and lippy half-dryad, half women. A vampire, who's about to notch up his fifth century. And a bloody Nilfgaardian who insists he isnt a Nilfgaardian.'
And leading the party is the Witcher, who suffers from pangs of conscience, impotence and the inability to take decisions' Regis finished calmly.

There are many good and funny moments in the books :)

I thnik this thread won't be very popular, since Geralt is not romancable :D

I stared at his ass for more than 80hrs, of course he's romanceable.

---------- Updated at 06:07 AM ----------

Will be similar (un)popular. Maybe even a bit less because he is no woman. Still no Dandelion and Zoltan threads

Blasphemy! Dandelion doesn't have a thread, what.

My favourite quote from Season of Storms. It doesn't contain important plot spoilers.

"No, they didn't fall to my knees with gratitude," said Geralt while squeezing his jaw. "They didn't pull themselves together completely just yet. And I will vanish from here, vanish before they understand. I will disappear before they come to realize that I used them as bait, because in my arrogance, I was convinced that I could save all three of them. I will vanish sooner than that child becomes aware of the fact that I am the one to be blamed for the death of her father."

He felt miserable. It had to be the effect of the elixirs which he used before the battle. It had to be.

For those who think that Geral usaully doesn't desmember his rivals. And why he can do it

Geralt jumped. Every move he made, every step, was part of his nature: hard-learned, automatic and lethally sure. Three quick steps, and the third, like a hundred such steps before, finished on the left leg with a strong, firm stamp. A twist of his torso and a sharp, forceful cut. He saw her eyes. Nothing could change now. He heard the voice. Nothing. He yelled, to drown the word which she was repeating. Nothing could change. He cut.

He struck decisively, like hundreds of times before, with the center of the blade, and immediately, following the rhythm of the movement, took a fourth step and half a turn. The blade, freed by the half-turn, floated after him, shining, drawing a fan of red droplets in its wake. The streaming raven-black hair floated in the air, floated, floated, floated…

The head fell onto the gravel.

There are fewer and fewer monsters?

And I? What am I?

TW2 Geralt is probably the most 'badass', but I think he's pretty badass everywhere regardless.

Can't fully comment on the books though since I'm still reading them.

So we escort Triss to safety to become advisor to Kovir king, and then Dijikstra said that Yennefer is colaborating with nilfgardians, and ask geralt to help him kill Radovid, and later he and Roche said to Geralt that he should help in regicide cuz Radovid is threat to mages including Triss and Yennefer.

Why Geralt don`t say WTF are you talking about Dijikstra how the hell is Radovid threat to Triss and Yennefer is he going to send assasins after them in another countries just cuz he hate mages.

A bit from the books about witcher's elixirs and their effects, from Blood of Elves chapter 6:

This first description describes something like the "Cat" potion from the game:

Geralt flinched a little and swallowed hard. The initial shock of drinking the elixir had passed and the second stage was beginning to take effect, as indicated by a faint but unpleasant dizziness which accompanied the adaptation of his sight to darkness. The adaptation progressed quickly. The deep darkness of the night paled; everything around him started to take on shades of grey, shade which were at first hazy and unclear then increasingly contrasting, distinct, and sharp.

These later parts suggest that a certain blood-lust accompanies the elixirs, making it difficult for Geralt to control his violence. I guess this elixir is something like a mix of Thunderbolt and Blizzard from the game.
He would first have to fight his escort and he did not want to do so. Firstly, as he was under the influence of the elixir, those men would have to die.
...
"You shouldn't have said that." The witcher smiled nastily, feeling the euphoria of battle aroused by the elixir, reacting with adrenaline. "Before you said that, you still had a chance to live. Now you don't."
....
"You're wounded, Geralt. You can't feel the pain because you're intoxicated with the witchers' elixir but look how you're bleeding. Have you calmed down sufficiently for me to safely approach and take a look at you? Bloody hell, don't look at me like that! And don't come near me. One more step and I'll be forced to... Don't come near me! Please! I don't want to hurt your but if you come near-"
"Philippa!" shouted Dandelion, still holding the weeping Shani. "Have you gone mad?"
"No," said the witcher with some effort. "She's quite sane. And knows perfectly well what she's doing."

The witchers' reputations as mutated killing machines seems to have quite a bit to do with the potions. The bloodlust and battle euphoria are perfect for a monster den, but may spin out of control around humans! The thought that "I've taken the elixir so they all are going to die" implies a disturbing lack of control once the adrenaline hits.
