The closer the model of the TW3 Geralt is to the TW1 Geralt, the better, end of story! (At least the body)

@ Reptile: close, but no cigar, mate. You have to match the model's lower body width to that of Geralt's to get an accurate match.

That's what I did the first time but then the dude's head was too big (ifyaknowwatimean)

So now, their heads are about the same size, and it's clear that it's either a *really* tight fit around the waist or it simply isn't possible. I'd say Geralt is maybe a tad too stretched out.

Anyway, female armours now?

lol guys, how about you make everyone of the Dev team like Geralt. Or even better, transform their whole crew into characters from the witcher.

Anyone remember the party thread from 18-months-or-so ago, that was renamed some ten times? Pure gold. I have no idea what it originally was about, but it ended way weird and just hilarious. I think it brought forth stuff like Geralt-Like-A-Sir and Bling-Bling-Henselt.

The Party thread! Now with slightly less party because my minus albums got really messed up a few months ago :(

You're right, this thread definitely has that kind of silly fun feeling.

@ Reptile: C'mon, Geralt's upper body is wider than the model's, that's why he looks disproportional overall.

I am assuming here that the armour is super tight around the waist and broad around the shoulders. Plus, the guy on the pic seems to be leaning forward a little bit while Geralt's body is straight.

As I said when I matched them, their heads weren'tthe same size:

*groan* I spend enough time on this forum as it is, I don't need anymore reasons :p

@ Reptile: no that would be physically impossible- any armour that's tight on the bottom has to be equally tight on the top as well, otherwise it would swim on you with every bit of movement.

Wow, this thread is populated by people who want to make a statement about body image issues for women. This is disappointing because Geralt's character modeling is the problem here.

I think the thread is as lighthearted as it can be considering the OP. Regardless of how legitimate the claim of Geralt's disproportional body is, I'm happy that the discussion remained civil and funny, instead of turning into full-fledged wank. Only a few sentences were written concerning female character design in games and they were mostly brushed off or treated with humour. I don't know if we should talk about it in more depth here or in another thread. I'd rather not get into much detail regarding that issue here - any topic that starts with blatant homophobia, transphobia and sexism doesn't deserve serious treatment, especially on a gaming forum IMO.

But nevertheless, what's disappointing - in general - with mentioning female body issues in "problematic" male character design discussion?

Even if it's fitting uncomfortably tight around the waist (as in really strapped fast with those straps on his sides), chainmail and the padding beneath will add several centimetres. It's way off.

Maybe you're right, I'm just saying why I put the images the way I did. Something is a bit off but not *that* much (as I said, when the waists are the same, the heads differ a little, when the heads are the same size, the waists don't quite match up).

I'm not saying it's perfect nor am I saying it's impossible, all I'm doing is putting images on top of each other :p

I'm also saying that we probably need more female waist discussion.

Seriously, Reds need to look into this issue, but I hate that we discussed it on this thread. Lol, I feel it's my fault because I didn't even read the OP before replying.

Haha, indeed. Any way to do some cutting and pasting?

I'm a bit on the fence with the waist. I saw things like Black Leopard. He looks like TW2: a really cut body, broad shoulders with a slimmer mid section, and a pleasing posterior. Maybe its the chain mail, but now its been discussed, his waist it might be on the slim side. Some shots in different armor could shed some light one this

Maybe its a sort of "stretched" look in reaction to him looking a bit short in some places in the second game.

But did you guys see him walk?! Wow! Too freaking cool.

Agreed. We seriously need a gif of the nod Geralt makes after dismounting the horse.
