Geralt can't remember because he was not there during pogrom. He was trained and mutated in Kaer Morhen, when the place was fully funcional, but was on the trail, when bad things happend to Stronghold Of The Old Sea. Yes, I know, that in books is sentence that pogrom was over 100 years ago, but this olny one of many examples in books, of Sapkowski not caring about timeline (he don't care very much about topography either).

Just try to consider whether Leo Bonhart was a rogue witcher. ;P

Either way, since this was referencing the over 100 years mark in the books, it's legitimate to estimate Geralt as over the hundred years old, even though there might be contradicting references. After all, it's from Sapkowski himself, so address all disagreements to him ;)

I'm not sure if he consciously made it inconsistent, or simply didn't care to fix the facts before publishing. But that's what we work with.

Geralt's younger than Yennefer, and Yennefer isn't 100. But that puts him at Kaer Morhen at the time of the pogrom, unless he's significantly younger.

You're right; Sapkowski did not make a point of maintaining a self-consistent timeline, and it's a caution that we shouldn't make too much of it, either.

It's just one of the possibilities. Near the end of Saga Yennefer said that she has ninety four years, and in books, there are many indications that she is older than Geralt.

Generally good luck with that. ;P

While I do not remember how much time Geralt spend healing up in Brokilon, I remember he did not enjoy his beard. While I do not mind beards, hell, I like my own pretty well, but the prime reason behind me having any beard at all is that I just dammit hate, totally despise shaving and/or I rarely find time to shave it ( as I do not deem shaving worth my time :p ).

I like beards, add to it the elvish-hairstyle from TW2... and okey... White Wolf might look a bit odd, but hell! Odd but awesome is fine in my books.

Elves with beards for some reason were deemed uncommon in the genre, but there are famous examples: http://lotr.wikia.com/wiki/C%C3%ADrdan

Very rare to be fair. Like white ravens even... Gwynbleidd is not an elf though but... hell, remeber Rivia? The crowd taking Geralt for an elf? But, crowd is crowd, and while White Wolf with the beard is not as rare as Elf with the beard, it still sounds fine for me... Hell, maybe even looks fine.

I don't know... I don't really like his face. He looks like a douchebag :p

I'm sure there's some random Polish guy walking around somewhere that matches however Geralt is supposed to look like. Let's not pull another Prince of SwedenPersia.

And for a long time, I thought, that only I see this guy as best choice for Geralt.

E:

I also like, how title is Polish, but the last name of autor is "english style": Sapkowsky, instead of Sapkowski. ;P

Yeah, if anyone should play Geralt, it's gotta be that guy. Mmmhmm, I'm really liking bearded men right now, haha.

I preferred his look in TW1 best. Looks a bit odd with a beard, and much older. No huge deal though.

in many cultures having a beard is unprofessional. i'm an American Soldier and we shave our faces, because we are professionals.
GERALT of Rivia is a PROFESSIONAL monster slayer AKA WITCHER. i heard we get the option to shave it? i did notice through 1-3 he gets more facial hair.

Hahaha, WHAT? Having a beard is unprofessional? Do you even know why U.S. soldiers usually shave? It’s (among others) because beards prevent masks from having a tight fit.

I like the beard, I believe it reflects Geralt's psychological state quite nicely.

Reasons I will never join the army:
1.) I love my long hair.
2.) I hate to shave.

Professionalism has very little to have with beards, in my little opinion. Isn't UK allowing beards or mustaches? ( or was, at least in WWII )

But seriously though, Geralt is no soldier.
What's stopping him from not shaving?
