Geralt's bust is a bust

Seriously, I want to know if anyone actually wants it. I can't see a use for it and is the primary reason I'm passing on it(followed closely by the price). I can't justify $85 more for some dice, a deck of cards and a couple of coins. I sure can't justify buying a useless head.If I had to guess, I'd say more people are saying no to the Collector's edition specifically because of the useless head raising the price than there are buying it specifically for that. However, I'd like to know if there's even one person who disagrees with me. I want to know just why the heck they'd even include it to begin with. Were they on drugs when they made this decision or was there actually a demand for this?Don't get me wrong, I like The Witcher and I'm totally in for a pre-order with that deal they have going on GoG.com. I'm just not into throwing money away on a useless head.

Yeah, it's obvious that not everything is going to appeal of everyone all of the time.. what's your point?I'm quite happy with the set, and it'll all look quite good set as a display.. and I wouldn't worry too much, whatever you don't buy I'm sure someone else will... I'm just happy that at the moment I'm in a position to support such a great developer.. dare I say the best at the moment in so far as customer care goes.EDIT.. nice first post by the way o_O

I thought I was being fairly clear.Including an expensive item in a collector's edition only really works, if people actually want it.Even you haven't stated that you would go out of your way to buy the CE just because it has a bust of Geralt in it.I already stated I'm a fan of the series. The decision to include the head just completely defies logic. I wouldn't have thought twice if the CE was $80 and didn't include the head. $80 for a game is hard enough to justify with how cheap games have gotten these days. If you've been spoiled by Steam sales, you find it hard to justify buying any game new. I usually only buy a game new if I really want to support that particular developer. I have to believe their games are outstanding in some way. The fact I'm willing to not only buy new but even pre-order their game says a lot about them and my opinion of them.Putting that head in the CE means it will only appeal to people who either have money to burn, really like the Geralt bust or both. Everyone else is basically left wanting. Useless crap in a CE is nothing new. It's also why CEs don't always sell well. A lot of the time, people buying them have money to burn and just really want to give extra support to the developer while getting some nifty souvenir out of it.I could be wrong about this but I actually consider it to be more supportive of CD Projekt to buy the GoG deal than to buy the CE. Why? The GoG deal is all digital which means minimal cost and higher potential profit over the CE. The CE being a physical product means a lot of others are getting a cut. It's not cheap to put it together and ship it out. Unless the markup on the CE is crazy high, they stand to make a lot more profit off of digital sales. Of course, I don't know the exact numbers so I'm just guessing. If anyone wants to correct me, feel free to.I don't know about how everyone else feels and that's pretty much why I made the thread. I wanted to know if the Geralt bust actually compelled anyone to want to buy the CE. Not being bothered by its presence in the CE and the added price associated to it is completely different than actually wanting it to be there.Edit: Thanks btw. =)

Yeah?.. well all I got from your post (and title) was..WAA.... I don't like the bust.. WAA.... piece of crap.. WAAA... not paying good money for that... WAAAAI don't know what you thought you were trying to accomplish.... try running a poll to see if people who intend to buy the CE are happy with the bust as an addition..And as far supporting CDP goes... I'd have though it'd be better to buy stuff from the shelf.... because the more people do that, then the more their stuff is actually displayed in a place where other people, on the fence or unaware of digital downloads (parents, aunts, uncles, etc..) actually see a product.... the more it's out there, the more it gets seen, the more notoriety CDP get.Physical media is still, by far, the most popular way to get a game.

I hardly visit real stores anymore. The fact I live out in the middle of nowhere makes online purchases about 10000x more convenient than going into physical stores(in addition to the usual benefits of online buying). Every gamer I know buys online these days. I suppose there's still a lot of people that prefer physical stores but I have to wonder how many of those people would take interest in this type of game just by looking at the box.I already stated the purpose twice now. Pure and simple, I want to know if even one single person specifically wanted the bust. All you've done is call me a whiner and ask twice why I made the thread. If you're going to just keep asking the same question that I've already answered then there's nothing we can discuss here. I'll continue to wait and see if anyone actually thought the bust was a good idea.I will add this though. I stand by what I said about not thinking twice about buying a cheaper version of the CE that is missing the bust. I don't care for the stickers or the papercraft things either but I don't imagine either one of those caused that massive jump in price. The only reason I have a problem with the bust is that it's obvious it was a significant part of the price increase over other CEs out there and I'm just not seeing any demand for it.

and what makes me wonder is that everybody is nitpicking about the bust missing the real gem in that collection - about A4, hardcover, 200 pages strong artbook. That alone would cost you 50$ or more if it ware Black Library or the like...have any considered this?

The book was the second thing I noticed.. it's just the the bust pretty much draws the eye.I was VERY surprised that it was a hardback.... the whole set just reeks of quality.

For me it's the artwork book, the dice, and the cards (I'm a rpg gamer) that sold the CE. Sure, I'd enjoy a T-shirt or USB stick or anything with more uses than gathering dust more than the bust, but I'm still happy at this price =)

I'm quite happy with what CE contains. First thing that I wanted is the artbook, then dices, cards and... the head :p Although I hoped for some kind of action figure - whole Geralt to collect dust, but I think that the head alone will do.And no, there was no demand for the head before. It was something to surprise the buyers... and it did.

Just to toss in my two cents... I originally planned to buy this digitally as I do with all my games anymore. I've since placed my order for the collectors edition simply because of the bust... hahahPersonally, I like stuff like that, more so than an action figure or other small trinkets. I'm a fan of statues, carvings, whatever, of all kinds.

AND you can get it (in pdf) at the Premium Edition price if you buy through GOG.com. That's just astonishing!

I was kind of surprised with it and dissapointed at 1st, but after some thought I started to kind of like the idea - at least for the originality factor. I'm going to put it into my bookshelf near the Witcher books. =)I have some worries about the material its made of, hope its not some cheap plastic, but at least its better than some boring flash drive or t-shirt or a calendar etc.

Keep in mind that it may look like plastic if you get it painted. IMO marble look is better.

The only difference I want in CE is to change the stickies with a Shirt, a coffee cup or a keychain.I really want that statue too, it will be a nice little decoration and will also work splendidly as a paperweight.

Good points sir. Thought i think stainless steel witcher's skinning knife would be better than a bust.

I agree with most of what you said, however I wouldn't go as far as to say they were high when they took the decision :))Some people might want it (not me), who knows? Kids are sometimes big time into this... remember the old DV 'action figurines'? :D It's not quite the same, but not too far either. If they offered a high quality (working) sword, maybe I would consider it. Would be cool to show up at work or in the pub with the sword hanging around my waist :)))))
