Yes this looks pale to me.
It might be the engine's fault but this is definitely a LOT paler than anything TW3 showed us so far.
Hell, even Ciri, Yennefer and Triss are more pale in TW3 than Geralt is. His face is pink-/redish and he looks like he has high blood pressure. In TW2 he looks not TOO pale, but pale enough to look different from "normal" humans.

It might be similar and I agree. Similar in shape and form, but in TW3 Geralts hair is too grey and his face not pale enough. And yes, I stand to that opinion.

Like I said, maybe it is due to the engine, but it is that way IMO.

I think he is paler in the Witcher 3, but as you said our opinions may differ. I think you mean his skin looks unhealthier in Witcher 2, which is different from being paler. the unhealthy look is not due to being pale.
But the reason he may look more tan than Ciri or Yennefer, might be because CDPR wants him to look like someone who spends most of his time under the sun or in the cold hunting monsters. Plus men naturally produce more pigmentation than women do, that's why women's skin is more sensetive to harsh sun or cold.
Anyways I personally like his face in the new trailer.

Yeaaa, I don't think the issue is whether or not CDPR has the technical capabilities of editing his skin. CDPR - as fans of the series themselves who know the books, just like we do - take this matter, for which there is not one answer that represents a consensus, and apply their own interpretation. There is not one exclusive clarification to this topic. And whether or not Geralt was pale in TW2 is also arguable. We can find screenshots that support either argument.

Personally, I think that when I read the books I wasn't under the impression that Geralt looked sickly by Sapkowski's description. But could be that I just skimmed through some paragraph that stated that. It's around 2,000 pages, after all.

i agree eliharel but why cdrp always potrait geralt pale and sick looking in there trailers? if is a matter of interpretation why change now?
i´m just saying my opinion that this current face is not appealing to me, and i´m worried because in ps4 we don´t have mods :(

Geralt's face to me was (and still is) one of the major concerns about the game. Now, we have less then three months before the game is released, so I highly doubt that there will be any change in the matter. They just ruined Gerald's look, but if you are going to buy the game, you absolutely have to get over it or it will be difficult to enjoy your time playing.

Right now I am considering the purchase only if gameplay is good, because the visual aspect is screwed up.

P.s. If the final build will be improved graphically, then I will be more than glad to be wrong.

Looks like the game has been delayed to May, so maybe there is still time to change the face shape and to fix the hair colour...

Is there some bagginess in his cheeks to show he is older? Witchers age really slowly, almost like sorceresses. In books it was said as an expression that Vesemir might be as old as kaer morhen.

Okay then let me be clearer, his face (IMO) should be more white and look more unhealthy. Remove the Red parts in his face I never heard of a Witcher having a sunburn or having dark complexion. I'm just saying, in TW1 and TW2 he looked more unhealthy. On top of that his hair is Grey, especially on his beard, I hope they can make it a tad bit more white because he is supposed to have lost almost all his pigmentation through mutations.
(Also, only secondary here but did anyone else notice his eyes look more normal and are more hidden/subtle now?)

I would prefer that.
The rest of his face (shape) and the haircut are good.

Honestly, the difference in polygons count and stiffness with this:

isn't big. I'd say it's just a slight, insignificant gap. Imagine it with new and better high-res textures and proper lightening and shaders and you'll understand what I am talking about.

I mean, look at tese faces:

The only real problems here are the unexpressivity and a little of overall stiffness. But just a minimal carving on this polygonal face model would be enough, I'm sure of it. If you look closely and with attention, you'll see that in TW 3 they have changed the angle of the point of the nose, which has always been slightly bent downwards, as well as the size of the nose, which was a bit more pronounced and it was sharper. The face was also a bit larger at the time. Then the old version is already pale and has more "witchery" eyes, so the only aspect to be fixed would be the hair colour, but the new version also has this issue.

And speaking about stiffness, it looks like it's still present in TW3, so they should work to give a softer, more natural look to the characters and not to change their looks, which for Geralt were just fine.

Why changing what already worked perfectly? Gerald was so original and had a unique appeal back then. Now he is closer to the average character design aside from his gears and hairstyle...

Anyway, I'm happy to notice that they toned down the healthy full hamster cheeks. It's surely a big improvement.

I think It's the lighting and filtering that makes Geralt's skin so tan in the above screenshot, or it may be because he is in front of fire or something.
Here's another screenshot from a few seconds earlier, and he does not look too tanned. I agree though, his face should look paler and unhealthier. Other than color I like the new face, because at least it is not pudgy anymore. I wish his beard was fuller and covered his cheeks like in the Trail" intro.

Maybe it's just an option from the barber shop. We still have to see him without beard though.
Anyway, making him paler would enhance the contrast between the lips color and the skin tone, ending up with a result that is more similar to TW2 images I posted above. To me, if they make the face a bit larger (bone wise, NOT beefier), if they sharpen the nose, give him almost yellow/cat eyes and turn him paler with white hair, then it's perfect.

Actually he seems a bit Kanye-ish to me because of his cheeks which still look a bit bloated imo

Theory: The odd 'tan' in a few shots aside, since they're using all new rendering etc maybe the slightly 'pink' is supposed to represent the blood 'shining through' the skin since lack of pigmentation would probably result in that, the TW2 face many-a-times looked like a weird 'grey' and not pale(bothered me more than a few times), maybe they're trying to circumvent that.

EDIT: Look above in the two TW2 Geralt shots, there is a weird grey hue to his face which shouldn't really be there, that's what I mean

I've found this screenshot, it should be from Famitsu and they say it's the Ps4 version (I don't think so. It seems, to me, a Pc version, but I can be wrong):

Now, here Geralt looks almost perfect, very TW2like; I mean, the shape of the nose and its angle, the chin, the overall face silhouette, everything is as it should (maybe the hair should be a tad whiter, but nonetheless even if they left the hue like this, it would be enough). I haven't seen a front shot from the same build, so I can't be sure, but the problem seems to lay in the front angle, maybe because they changed the proportions too much and in a way that affects only that angle.
Anyway, if they do with the front face what they have done with the sideview, then we shouldn't worry anymore about Geralt's look.
I really hope that they work this way, because this is the closest result to the CGI opening, the one of Geralt following Yennefer's trails.
If everything is going as I suppose, only yellow eyes are missing.

P.s. And of course he should be paler, as in the CGI mentioned above.

I trust CDProject that they will present us the best version in the final. I mean in the Witcher 2 there's big difference in Geralt's face between the trailers 6 months before the release and the final version, and the final one was perfect.
