Highest available quality of the new footage:
As i've said. I find this look optimal. It actually looks like the Geralt from TW1 intro.PS: The new engine is awesome-o.

I really like that Geralt too. Problem is, that picture is the only place I've seen it.I agree with you about art design - leave it to the professionals. Fans can voice their opinions easy enough, but the vast majority aren't qualified artists (I'm guilty of this myself) Let the character designers do their job.

I saw this version of Geralt in a gameplay trailer, on Gametrailers, i think.

Thanks for the pictures. Yeah, he looks similar to the first one. Pity. At least he got a 5 o clock shadow.

Someone else probably brought this up already but still:What ever happened to the Geralt from the leaked TW2 promotional video? Why was he changed in the first place?

Hell yeah!I never thought that havok is capable of something like thath... The only thing I'm worried about are the system requirements...

Yes, Geralt is looking more like the witcher we know, a few more small touches and it will be great.I downloaded the mp4 versions and the game is looking superb so far.The face animations and voice synchronisations need a little work i think so if they can be improved the game will be great.

That wasn't a final build. They changed him to look different. Community cried hard. Changed him back.

Hmm I am a gun enthusiast and at first (before I read your post) when I saw the picture I thought you had loaded some custom Geralt bullets! ;)

Oh, those really look like bullets in that thumbnail! Honestly, I got no idea what these smells like... and how it came to this (I mean, because of the sword design...). It's also interesting to see, that in this previously linked image (it's not from the best designed site... http://www.kaba-drogerie.cz/kabatelokosmetika.htm) the name still is written with a "t", which is changed to "d" on the products you can find here http://www.lancszem.hu/eng/diszdobozok.html.I also just found two sites where these are available (In case someone really wants to check it out. Oh, seems there also is shaving foam... but I digress.) ;-)

Thanks for the hardwork CDProject. Love everything so far!I don't have any complaints, just a minor concern. Geralts original voice actor nailed the spot in the westerns opinion, from all the fans, please if you can, get him again.

^^ I second that, the original english voice actor was great. The model is better but I still think the mouth and eyes and nose should be much sharper with darker facial hair. Geralt still looks too western to me. But the direction the model is going is better.

Did they change his voice a bit? If the answer is yes, then the old one is better in my opinion. But is this a clear anouncement, saying they did change it? please spread the word! I would like to know because then i will complain lol

Here is a tip from someone who has also experience with Character-Design:Don't listen to the community. You can listen to them when it comes to gameplay, quests and other things, but never when it comes to the art-direction. There is a whole different understanding behind that, that people without the experience don't have. This Geralt is perfect. He's handsome, which would explain why he's so successful with the ladies, but he also looks fierce and capable of killing without mercy. Geralt in the first Witcher was ... ugly. That's all he was. No reason to make him ugly again. This is your game, the community helped you being successful, but don't change such things because some people think a ponytails looks gay or that he's too beautiful. Art-Direction is something that shouldn't be touched by the community. There is a fine line between looking beautiful and looking badass. I think this Geralt strikes the line perfectly. Don't change him. I'm saying this because i saw some new gameplay at the GC and i think you changed him to the old one again. Please don't let this be true. It's your game, we only play it. Something like the Art-Direction should be in your hands, and your hands only. The guys from SuckerPunch made the same mistake with inFamous 2. Don't make the same guys.

Changing him to the old one woudn't be a mistake since most of the fans weren't happy about the new supposed to be the Geralt guy. And who are you to say don't listen fans to the devs? Just because you have experience in character design doesn't mean your understanding of aesthetics is better than all the other fans and just because some games failed because they changed their character model to the old one doesn't mean another will fail too. Btw, I liked the latest Geralt. Thoric have some nice caps in his posts. Could the topic creator please update the first post with the new caps? Unkreativ, those deos look great xD

I guess we all can be glad there is no hardware, which can spread "odour" to make games even more immersive. The truth unfortunately would be the smell of manure, sewer and blood mixed up with a lotta sweat and testosterone. X,X

But it is THE SAME VOICE! The guy dubbing Geralt in all the presentations so far is the SAME actor! Another matter is that because all those have been 'shaky-cammed' the sound is a bit crappy and it may sound not as good as when you listened to him at home, but it is the same.I still hadn't told this in this threat but the new Geralt is PERFECT. Thanks.

I just wanted to say that I too have experience as a character designer, I did it for a living for oh, 4 years, complete with unreasonably picky clients from hell. cartoon characters, I worked at a mascot company, but still, did do designs for some large teams/companies Philadelphia Eagles, Denver Broncos etc... attended Sheridan College's animation program. I've also done comic books and stuff. and I like the new one. ;) Appeal to authority arguments kinda bug me. Really, all the experience in the world doesn't matter, I only brought up my background as a counter to the original 'don't listen to them, trust me, I'm a professional!' post. People like the old Geralt's face, their opinion isn't invalid just because they don't have training. Some of the people I trust the most to critique my own art are not artists themselves, just people who I know share a similar aesthetic sense. They may not be able to draw to save their lives, but they can still tell what they do and do not like. An experience artist will be better equipped to deal with technical things like anatomy, perspective, colour theory, composition... but things like 'I like X face over Y face'? you don't need training for that. That being said, I do think the devs have to follow their own vision, because no matter what they do, someone will be disappointed, this just proves that. But! they had established a look in the first game for Geralt, and the complaints about the new face weren't about how ugly or handsome he was, it was about how close it was to the face presented to us originally. We had grown accustomed to that face, it WAS Geralt. things like hairstyle, enh, don't care. But the face, it was like, you have a character in a TV show, and they change the actor between seasons. It's jarring, no matter how good the new guy may be. So in that case, I think the criticisms were perfectly valid.

Personally, I like the new look. Albeit different, I still like it. He doesn't look any "worse" than in TW1, just different.
