Your pictures are outdated. Here is the latest in-game Geralt:
and this is the latest dvd cover:
Furthermore, it doesn't matter anymore because the game will be out soon. It's too late to make any changes. The release can't be postponed for Geralt's looks. Besides, they've already done that several times. I mean the changes.

I don't think being able to customize Geralt is necessary. They're telling a story of a certain character and this character is who he is. What does liking how the character looks have to do with the story they're trying to tell? They should make Geralt look exactly how they think he looks because it's their story and their world (based upon the books, of course). It's their creative vision. If you get to start changing who Geralt is or how he looks then why not have the same option for all the other characters in the story? What if I want Triss with blonde hair instead of red? My point being, predefined characters should be created by the authors of the game. If you didn't play as a predefined character then sure, allow the players to customize who they play as.
Yes, you are perfectly right *clap on your shoulder* It's very common to customize characters but in those cases they are anonymous chars of a certain class or profession.

That is so true its ether a command last name (insert first name here) or there called the chosen one and so on and so on

I have to say i'm really impressed with how ugly the new Geralt has become. One more reason why the creative department should never listen to their fans. They might love and understand gameplay, but they are not artists, especially not character-artists.Geralt is a Witcher, they age slower than we do. Geralt is a ladies man, with charm and looks. So we had this beautiful looking, charming 30-something fella with impressive, smooth looking hair:
Probably a little bit too beautiful but give him a little edge and call it a day.But now we have this dirty old in-mud-living hobo with old-people hair and really, really weird looking eyes:
Seriously, he looks like he's in his 50's now. Who'd want to sleep with this guy? Think about the ladies, people! This is actually why - for the first time - i'd say they should release the game with a character editor. But i doubt that will happen. So i hope the game will be released with proper modding tools so i don't have to play this guy. Don't get me wrong, i will buy and play it, but not as a dirty hobo who never bathes or shaves himself.Yes, i'm overreacting. But it just frustrates me that CD Projekt actually listened to people who have not the slightest idea about design.

To me is not an issue, but maybe you're right. I have read others graphic designers or artist complaining about this and it has been a lot of discussion in the forum, so I suposse it's difficult to make happy to everyone.Anyway it's funny that you think that a major problem is that an "old man" is not gonna be attractive for lady fans out there. Of course, every generalization is absurd, but in my expierence 50 years old is the age of the heart-trobbing hunk. Look at Hollywood: Sean Pean, Harrison Ford, Jhonny Deep, George Clooney, Brad Pitt ... neither of them with less than 45.Said that, which I understand perfectly (many actress are ashtonishing at this age to) which has puzzled me during years is other thing. Or other guy, in fact. Sean Connery. I mean, really ladies?!?! He could be your grandfather, come on! ;)

This is mostly an issue about the box art...I think it could be better but.....The in-game geralt, that I have seen from the videos, looks pretty darn close to the one from TW1.

haha those comparisons are hilarious. i like the new design, but the old one did have that certain charm about it. doesn't matter, i'm going to put a helmet over his face.

Yeah i love the younger look of Geralt. He is awesome!. Ffs i don't care bout how the books described him.. I watched some of the videos the developers actually added few NPCs and quests that wasn't related to the books.. So should they be removed to stay true to the books? I say not.Similarly, i really like the younger look of him. He should be the ladies man and not an ugly old man. I agree that developers make Geralt look worst by hearing to fan...atics.For god's sake can the developers please release an OPTIONAL free DLC (to those who preorder) to have players select Geralt's earlier look?

^ If they haven't changed his look, they would probably have to include solariums and cosmetic saloons in the game, so that our 'monster slayer' can work on his tan, and get his waxing done! Lol..

I think they painfully overdid the yaw. Makes him look turtle-like. I just hope they made the lip sync A LOT better, because in the old prison break video, he's a total cooter, haha.As long as Doug C0ckle lends him his voice, I'll love him anyway, I guess. But I'll probably fire up TexMod to at least give him his milky white hair.I like the version of the box art. Some complain he's too old, but they got the proportions of the face right, dunno why he's so different in game. And the version right in front of me, on this forum site, is cool, too. No turtle or toad. Mmmhh... that one might be the best version, actually. Can we haz that? *blink*

I was being sarcastic, don't really know if the lady fans are attracted to him or not. But i think it would be lot easier with the younger version.

Well being a man of 50 my wife still thinks I clean up nice so must be doing something right
That's not the same thing. You're married, so you don't have go out and look for a new woman in your life. You're not in "The Game", as some call it. :p

You can do that?

Good to see some of you agree with me here. I'm surprised actually, last time i complained about this, i was torn apart.

Let me test out my psychic powers... Wait a minute, I'm getting something here... Oh, it's getting stronger! I'm sensing that some unknown person named seamusgod might have a helmet fetish ;)

Dammit. Comparing the new version with the old, bemoaned one, it's really gotten worse. Maybe closer to the original Geralt, but due to the completely new model, it just doesn't work as well. At least judging from the screenshots. We'll see if we're still gonna be surprised in the game. But that might be a nice idea for that free DLC they are planning, a head replacement, lol.

That screenshot is very old and Geralt's look has already been changed.

Sorry if I was not clear enough, two non natives have double language barrier, it seems. But I meant that the first attempt, which everyone complained about back then (the one in the link), actually looks a lot better than the latest model we've seen. Because the old one looks like a hunky witcher, not a turtle. ;)

i like the new look "old" and tired, reflects well everything that he has gone through, in the actual gameplay he dosen't look old ( picture from the prison )
