In the books AS implies Geralt is no spring chicken. Also, background characters in the Saga describe the witcher as rather ugly (Time of Contempt, Baptism of Fire). What is more, characters in books who see Geralt for the first time often think he is an old man because of his hair and pale complexion.

And for the record, I've read the last wish and this isn't the Geralt that was featured in that book...

Ermmm... I also read The Last Wish, many times in fact, but somehow I never noticed a detailed description of Geralt's face there... neither there nor anywhere else in Sapkowski's works. Did you read the Saga or just the short stories? Because the later books often suggest that Geralt looked rather old and tired towards the end of his life.I like the new face although I am not quite sure why they completely changed ears and nose which were pretty realistic and now look sort of cartoonish. But overall, good work. Much closer to what I always imagined Geralt looked like.

the question is not whether the geralt on the cover is authentic. We will still play the guy in pre-beta.the issue is that cover does not look attractive to potential customers, and speaking from myself, having a one guy for an entire cover is a bit lame. Look at other covers, they have so much stuff on them.again, the question is not whether the geralt looks real or not. I personally think that's not how he should look, and that is not important. What's important, is that the cover looks ugly, and if i didn't know anything about tw2, i would not buy the game based on the cover.i also don't understand the point of having a different guy on the cover, than in the game.

He looks awesome. He looks like the veteran he really is now, I love it!Plus he really looks more like a mutant, and not just a human with cat-eye's. A job wel done CDPR!

Here is the proper box art. It's in the first post of this topic:

That's the image I'm complaining about. The old box art is very smooth and high res while this one looks lower res with a much lower bit color.

I actually answered this in the other topic.
That's because the previous cover was made from 3d model and the newer one is a picture.

I read it in one of the related topics.

I apologize, I can't remember for the life of me, the only thing I remember is that it's some sort of cursed scar. And now I'm curious too, anybody has some info on the scar?

Yes now I am curious. That kinda explains why it looks so raw, almosy fresh. Gotta hurt

Saying that she "will never wear a revealing dress again" is more likely due to the psychological shock of having seen herself burned and maimed, not actual physical disfigurement. It's possible in the 5 years after the war, she has overcome it.

Still you are speculating, only the author can say that about Triss. My point in all this is that everything is possible but only when it is done to the female protagonist because she has to look pretty and perfect and the male protagonist can be ugly and unappealing.

That´s great notice :D:D:D I didn´t like it at first, but during time I guess I just got used to it. The question is if this is a sign of changing opinion or just resignation - because I can´t change it... I was also pretty surprised when reading the books that Geralt wore a headband :D because in TW1 his hait looked so natural, that I couldn´t imagine any changes there.

Yes, his hair was very nice in TW1, I loved the way it flowed when he fought. This new hair....just makes me want to cry. A headband would be fine, but a ponytail? NOT masculine or "fierce" at ALL.

Oh, come on, it won´t be so bad. I think that even a ponytail can flow during the running or fighting.

Umm....no (lol). Just not masculine. I don't know why so many games these days give heros ponytails. I am not kidding when I tell you that this and this alone broke my heart when I saw it (the ponytail). I don't care if he looks 200 yrs old or if he looks 18. The ponytail ruins the Witcher look in my opinion.

Well I guess the devs wanted to make a really big change (improvement) in every possible way, without realizing how much can a ponytail ruins someone´s good feeling about a character. But seriously, I understand, I too couldn´t get the change at first, and to be honest, the ponytail makes him a little girly - and that´s why they maybe modify his look for the cover - mystery solved :D

I still hope they will make it an option, that you can choose if you want to wear a ponytail or not. I got the impression that the developers themselves like the ponytail much, and that's why they are unwilling to remove it. They should relise that the game must be appealing to the customers, not for them. Anyway, if it would be optional everyone would be statisfied.

Face is good ..but agree with many comments about pony tail as a really bad choice. The point of a pony tail is that one unties, now and then. So when in the game does that happen? ..ever?

guys, don't think of it like a ponytail. he's just trying to keep his hair out of his face while fighting. the japanese samurai did the same thing with their topknots

Yep. If Geralt didn't have a ponytail he'd look like he's performing in a death metal concert whilst fighting. His hair would be going everywhere!
