Get rid of the Iorveth and Roche showdown...

...and replace it with Roche or Iorveth simply describing the conflict. Seriously CDPR, this part is so bad it makes me cringe. All you have to do to fix it is cut it out and have Roche or Iorveth explain why the other got away when talking to Geralt. It is by far the weakest moment in the game.

Or expand on it/make it more epic.
Or if they lied (as some suggested in another thread), explain why.

That scene is weak as hell, and if the dialogue was meant to be cheesy/funny on purpose... it didn't work. :/

I'm not sure it's meant to be cheesy. It reeks of 'we don't have the time or resources to do this well.'

I'm no Michelangelo, but sometimes a creative work just needs axing the bad parts instead of trying to force them in. With the rest of the writing at such a high level, this part sticks out badly.

It reminded me of old western movies where two characters have a showdown, then long you beat me/I beat you dialogue ensues. Even the graphics change to make the scene look ~vintage~. Except it's written really badly, like you said. I was facepalming at Iorveth's "I don't regret that it's you~" and then Roche's final excuse that was so incredibly out of character. The scene where Iorveth wins is just slightly more plausible because it's more in character that he'd have a long monologue, boast and leave. Too bad it doesn't fit timeline-wise in most cases.

But mostly I felt it was too soon for a duel like that. To top it off, it was poorly done and served no purpose to the story.

It reminded me of a bad James Bond movie, when the villain starts pontificating just long enough for bond to activate the grapple hook in his watch and escape. :p

LMAO. I understand what they were going with it - I guess it would be kind of pointless to set up the whole ~greatest enemies~ story and then have zero interaction between them for the rest of the game, but the way it's done... no, just no. That's why I'd like an expansion of the scene (or a build-up, or a better explanation, or whatever works best) rather than have it completely cut out.

Well, a nice cinematic cut scene would do just fine, one we don't interact in. Come to think of it, I've never lost in this encounter. What happens if you do?

The opposite scene plays :p You either defeat or become defeated. It doesn't affect any dialogue or anything else as far as I remember.

Yes, but then cinematic would define who wins and I guess the point was to embody one of the characters and DO it yourself.
