I never had the impression that girl gamer were seen as desperate and ugly. Maybe tomboyish at the most but other than that it has been my experience that if a guy hears your cute laughing feminine voice on Teamspeak they put their own picture of what a cute girl is on your voice or your presence. Maybe its just a question of attitude too. I have been a gamer for quite some time and no one thought I was levelled by my husband/brother/friend. My husband could not care less about games actually. The only misconception I had was that all girls play are monks/healer... but in my case it is true I love playing healer type characters.I am rambling but I am 31, graphic designer/homemaker, been playing various games since I was about 8 from the old DOS base things like hitchhikers guide to the galaxy then all the Ultima's, the Sierra and SSR games from the late 80s. Kept going through Fallout, never fell out of love from Baldur's gate (still play the mods from time to time) awaited Never winter Nights like it was my first born (it was at the same time actually) then got more in MMORPG and now been playing Witcher. Harder to keep up with my gaming with job/family and so on but I have a understanding spouse that gives me full gaming weekends once in a while.

LoLwell I guess to some extend I fall into that chiché but usually it is because I can't decide what character to play. So I have one of each and play them from time to time until I find the one I like the most. Sometimes playing a healer is a lot of fun and sometimes just cutting people up is a lot of fun. Usually that depends on my mood and if I have people I play with. My WoW character is/was a Hunter, my LotRo main was a Champion. I had a healer here and there and tried basically everything. Can't say I have one favorite class. However what I do like about healing classes is that it is challenging to solo-play and it is even more fun when people start not believing you to have finished certain quests or levels without help (as a healer with pretty much no armor). And Seeker, I had to smile when you said something about not caring what nongamers say and I reached that point quite a while ago. Live and let live but they better not dare putting on of my beloved games down *sharpens nails*

Small digression form the conversation you're having. I stumbled onto a supposedly girl game targeted website (!) called "Grrlgamer". And despite the fact that, admitingly, the Girls' Chamber is definitely my favourite topic (must be because of all the feminists I keep meeting in my life [taken in a good way of course]), I wasn't even aware that such a site existed. And it just posted a review of "The Witcher" that can be found here. Now, the surprising thing is that, despite the fact that the review has been written up by the opposite sex (when compared to mine that is, naturally), I really wouldn't have guessed that it had been written by a girl/woman. Even the issue of cards hasn't been given much attention, which is sort of peculiar given all the negative hype there has been building up about "The Witcher's" supposed sexual objectification of the woman. Anyhow, take a look at the review. I'd be interested in your impressions on this.

Thanks for the hint to that site, Witu, will check it out later.About the card topics and all that negativity about it... I say it again the one comment from a noble woman basically screws all that: women are being used, kinda talk. 'A witcher in bed cures my boredom.' Now there you go, not much more to say :pAnd Whisper, I tried 9Dragons but could never get myself to try silkroad. At the moment I checking out Perfect World, not sure what to think about it though. One of my favorite MMOs that sadly turned into a pile of... well you know, is The Saga of Ryzom. Wrong companies ruined it... but it was the best MMO community and the best customer support I ever saw.

Heh. I'm 46/female, and invariably playing a long haired hack and slash swordsman with just a touch of magick so he can heal himself. Tried other chars, and always back to my swordsman. And yes, fireball. Oh how I love blade and fireball. IRL I just traded a website for a hand and a half bastard sword, and sword training. Yaaaayyyyy!!!!!!!

okay, so why the cards in game is issue again? Somehow I really don't mind that ladys in that game are that easy to get, they don't make you to do it, you choose, so who cares? (I'm not even sure now (after looking at lots of topics who endet up as a theme for cards in game) who cares more - males of females - about ladys who try to give herself to geralt at nearest rock :D everyone is either hunting every target they can get or tryes not to sleep with any at all...)

Well actually I mind that the ladies are so easy to get. I wish more were like the waitress, a little bit more work and a little more to it than fuzzy graphic before the card. I dont mind making Geralt a man whore, I love it but I want a little bit more to it that: oh you like flowers? here! Not for feminist concern just for more game play

well i think that basiclly it is not a question of flowers or smth. They are just meant to be easy cause it is the way it goes... they are just easy and if they aren't it means they aren't worthy to try but anyway it is nothing compared to the scenario of the game.

LoL the crossover of topics, scenes, desires and complaints is getting quite amusing here.Whisper I think I know what you meant, lol, but then it again it is 4:40 am atm and I am not even sure if I know what I mean...errr...yeahI agree on the challenge though. Would be more fun if you had little quests or had to collect specific items. I mean you got tons of different jewelery in that game and you basically use two rings and that is about it...well besides using them to persuade whores.I am not really bothered by how things are now but I think they could be improved. Easy game is less fun. -> needs to go to bed. NN folks

I have to agree, it really was too easy to get women to bed, almost at unrealistic level.Or perhaps guys at CD Project RED are just so good with women that it's as easy for them as it is for Geralt in the game so they thought it's normal ;D

I'm not bothered by the lady cards, but some of them are a bit ridiculously easy to "acquire" lol. I actually like the airbrushed art on the cards, but I agree, there should have been a bit more of a challenge involved. There's another thread in the forum discussing this, one memorable person insisted that's what women were like with him....ahh funny. :D

I was wondering what women gamers think about the world of the witcher. Many reviewers have refered to it as sexist but personally i disagree. Actually in Sapkowski 's work some of the most interesting and powerfull characters are women.@Cassandra31EEE I live in Greece myself but I have never met any female gamers. Where are you hiding? :)

LoL yeah that Ghoul freaked me out a bit but it was funny.Other than that, and as I said before, there is pretty much no sexism in the game. I mean seriously, just cause a woman wants to have sex an she chooses it is this specific guy, doesn't mean that she is being abused or used. Why should only the men (in this game in RL) and especially Geralt have all the fun. Sure there is gonna be some drama here and there (Dandelion's Lute Quest >_

geralt wouln't ever rape anybody, he is not that kind of a person he is rather willing to let go and don't push, they were coming to him freewilingly always.he didn't even persuade, that is quite uncommon but it is probably due to smth. others would not understand and it is possible that it is only possible in novels... not sure. also in novels i do not recall he would go to a whore... but the game is different anyway. go figure it out yourself... :D

hey i ment the books, game is different, eg. geralt would never slept with the lady of the lake, no way. And to sleep with her you also has to persuade in a way. i imagine that he would probably say oh common if you want somthing from me just say it aloud.
