I used to work at a pet store, and I can tell you from experience those things can hurt you when they want to. For instance when they're sick and you're trying to take them to the vet. A mouse. Yes. To the vet.

Love this video. Sure that most of you know why and think the same. The idea came from her protagonist.

IMO there is no way to measure the perfection of a human body. It is only decided by the society in which we happen to live at this time.

These days a tanned skin is perceived as beautiful instead of light. But 200 years ago it was the other way aroud. People with a light skin had a large home to live in as opposed to poor people who had to live, work outside (farmers, builders, etc.) A light skin indicated wealth and riches. Good looks change with time and civilization.

The video is only a problem if for you personally looks matter. Giving value to the ideal image of appearance is a choice.

Is she perfect though? I do not think so. That's the "genius" behind this whole thing. She is not perfect. She is just being advertised as "the perfect woman". That way, every other woman wants to look like her and they try to, naturally by buying the advertised products.

I don't think that such thing as "the perfect woman" exists. At least in that concept. So yeah it is disturbing that so many people are being misguided into believing a flawed concept. And focus on trying to reach that "perfection", instead of focusing on making their relationships work, for example.

Anyway, I would certainly not buy that a woman is perfect simply by looking at her picture. I might think she is visually attractive yes, but perfect overall? Not even close. There's so much more to it.

She's not, and I agree with your post, my question was about why they need to give these women "perfection" using Photoshop et similia. Why could not be okay without it? You can clearly see the model is good, but instead you see modifications because... she's not good enough? Which I really don't understand is why advertising must give us plastic women. And the model is asking about it, otherwise she would have not made that video.

Because of cosmetic and fashion business. Then all the marketing about SPA's, gyms, light foods, drugs...and the list go on and on. And the sadest of all, lillte girls grow up surrounded by those liar messages. Learning to a girl how to love herself as she is without be influenced by "you're worth more if you're the most beautiful" is not easy. But not impossible.

And if they cannot convience the young girl. they easy convince young boys that this perfect beauty woman exists. So the circle is almost closed

Because reaching ridiculously high standards is more expensive. And thus generates more income.

Advertisements are all about creating new needs to people. The more expensive the need the better for the companies.

It is a problem that won't be solved instantly, but rather with time. If ever. But I'm usually an optimist. :)

This! This is absolutely the problem.
And yes, it's not impossible to convince a little girl she has not to follow those messages, parent's words can be bersuasive. I remember when I was a little girl and I wanted to be a model, my parents looked at me, with a smile.

Afterwards I understood what that smile meant.

You know, all the boys I saw convinced about this were generally stupid. And their girlfriends had generally the same IQ. :p

I don't know if physical torture come before or after the emotional Pigmalion effect reforcement and you get sick comumist puppets...

First a good-big-huge NEGATIVE pigmalion washbrain followed by a miraculous-artificial-cure-all POSITIVE pigmalion need.

The success of the drop of water torture is not the drop itself but the time between each of them, this time that let you try to think, waiting for the next drop fall, and only makes you be more confused. And we are so confused and weak in the teenage period!

Well, everything comes to its place... after 100 hundred years ;)

Damn, i know what is the whole beauty industry like, but that short movie made me sick. I totally agree with @wichat - it is just ridiculous what the industy do to young girls. I mean, look at all of the toy stuff in the shops - Barbie, Monster High and so on. Try not to buy one of them to your daughter when all of the other girls have it. Apart from that the way those are made - the total unrealistic figure, completely inappropriate clothing and make up... And that is only the top of the iceberg. Young girls and boys brainwashed from the very beginning.

So, what are you up to on this evening?
Joining some Halloween parties?

Halloween is not a traditional date in Spain although US's marketing is arrived here like St.Valentine's day. Here we celebrate "La catanyada" , chestnuts, sweet potatoes and panellets (a sweet made from ground almonds, sugar and eggs). Anciently families gathered around the fire, roasting these ingredients, often their only festive food before the first snow.
