Give us something we can pay for.

First off, CDPR rocks. I've been watching slack jawed for the last 8 months as they pretty much do everything right as far as addressing concerns and even going above and beyond what I expect from a developer. CDPR truly is doing it right and you guys are on my short list of developers I really respect and will trust with preorder blind purchases.

That said, I'm pretty sure there is a fairly large portion of us out there that you really can milk more money out of. Seriously, it's ok. I want to give you money. I look at these trashy money-grabbing item packs that Bioware throws at us now and again and I get infuriated because it's basis lies entirely in poorly developed rushed games that are not worthy of that kind of DLC following. If CDPR did an item pack I'd buy it, I don't even like item packs and I'd buy it. Why? Because some of us are that into supporting you that we'd do it with a smile.

I appreciate the free DLC, I appreciate the freebies you throw at us, I appreciate the way you speak to the community.

Some of us would be more than happy to pay you for these services if you can figure out a nifty way to do it, which I am sure you can.

TLDR: CDPR is one of the few devs out there that are actually worthy of getting paid for DLC and continued addons and it's ironic that it's one of the few that isn't charging. I think they should take advantage of it to a small extent for the sake of the consumers getting great games and the developers getting money to add to their money pile. Thanks.

Um if they gave us DLC to pay then wouldn't that just make them another company by that standard thus removing your statement for wanting to give them more money?

Not really, no. I didn't say my standard for them being awesome is the free DLC although I did state that I appreciate it. Free DLC is cool and I understand they came out and said all future DLC would be free but I'm certain they could figure out something. I guess Xpacs would be the obvious method but I'm not sure how feasible that is anytime soon with the console version underway.

I agree with you, but unfortunately I suspect that for every person who agrees, there are 10 who would be filling the forums with complaints about greedy developers once they start charging.

Physical merchandising may be a good compromise. We really NEED those Witcher T-shirts and coffee mugs.

Got my vote, more than willing to cough up ten or twenty quid every other month or so if they want to add quests or anything else. I bought an extra retail copy (which i've yet to open) after pre ordering on gog simply because I wanted to support a company that is so customer focused and responsive to reasoned criticism and feedback.

Then again I can't really see the point of item packs as the game's already snided with great loot, i'd still buy it on principle though.

I am more than willing to give CDPR money, if they make substantial DLCs. I too want to give you money dammit!

They could do what they always do. Release a quality content DLC or expansion and charge it for a reasonable price.

Surely some people will complain because some people are cheap and always complain anyway but most gamers will appreciate it and buy it.

They don't have to release a crappy DLC just to get money. They have shown again and again that their mentality is different than any other developer, so I expect innovative or exceptional ideas from them. Maybe they don't even WANT to charge for crappy "clothing" DLC like BioWare.

As for predictions, I'm still betting that they have more Act 3 content coming, maybe in an expansion with a normal price tag. That is something that almost everyone will gladly buy don't you think. If I was CDPR, I'd do that as a means to gain more income without losing any respect from my customers. Who will complain about paying for more Act 3 content except the usual cheap gamer types?

I bet most companies would charge us at least $10 for what CDPR does in version 2.0 for free.

I hope they eventually come up with full, paid expansion. However, as they stated in one of their interviews (http://en.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?/topic/23385-ask-me-anything-session-with-cdpr/) they might as well just make the next part of the Witcher, as making a big expansion requires really lot of work.

I want a paid expansion, DLC doesn't deserve any money, unless it's long and then it counts as an expansion anyway.
It may be just CrapCom charging for DLC that is already ON the disc that left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Look at GTA 4 I may hate the game but the DLC is HUGE. Look at Borderlands really big! Now Witcher 2 doesn't say give you a huge map to explore like in the two games I mentioned but I would gladly give money for good work that can last for at least 3 hours.

Bioware released a lot of dlc for Mass Effect 2 and only Shadow Broker dlc did I feel was worth paying for.

Like I said, that DLC is so big, its basically an expansion.
Out of ME2 DLC, Shadow Broker and Overlord were worth it. Because, once again they had a story and were long. Alternate costumes and weapons lol.

The medallian. I'd buy a good quality wolf witcher medallian for a decent amount of money.

I'd instantly buy any coffee mug they put Geralt's face on. And I don't even drink coffee.

But on topic, I wouldn't "look up" to BioWare and what they're currently doing with their DLCs - i.e. charging for every small addition to the game. Some of those prices are ridiculous when compared to what they bring (gifts pack anyone?). Enough of that, and even their own hardcore fanbase has slowly started to disintegrate and change opinion. In the long term, that always means less sales.

If CDPR comes up with a substantial DLC - story and map included - yes, I'd be more than happy to give them my money. Else, we're pretty good as we are, in my opinion.

yeah :p

and Arrival was also ok, well apart from the Shadow Broker the only one to have most relevance with the main plot (and bridge to ME3)

Oh Geralt coffe mug I would buy one.

Hopefully we get a proper expansion, I definitly pay for that. I also want to show CD project my support and hope they make many more games, but keep their high standards. So I understand where the OP is comming from. But they shouldnt charge for small dlcs, I would rather wait for an expansion.

No.

If they want to make more money they can sell "side stuff" (shirts / mugs / medallions etc etc) and release quality expansion packs packed with content and quality. I will NEVER buy any kind of dlc not even to support a good dev as i dont like what DLC in general stand for (Low quality, rushed, high prices, lack of new features/areas/items/textures/models and low gameplay time) Yes there are a few dlc that dont follow the general trend of low quality crap. But its like 1 every 1000 DLC released.

What they get from releasing free dlc will get returned in them as sales for the game (and future games) as they build up a good customer and community that are happy to buy their products.

my 2cents :p

Yeah, some merchandice please! I'd like different themed items not only the wolf logo. Some Iorveth, Roche, Saskia, Geralt, monsters, witcher equipments, scoia'tael logos, etc. etc.
I really like "stuff from the world itself" such as a book of monsters that could be used in the witcher world... as well as the phamhplet and temerian oren we got in CE

I'll be more than happy to throw my money into the merchandises too! Anything! specially Action Figures! I reserved all the spots in my display shelf for The Witcher! XD May be Replica of the witcher's swords and Roche's underpants!

(And I'm still pissed that I didn't win the leather mouse-pad, calendar and t-shirt bid on e-bay! D:
