Well, until now all has been DLC, updates and fixes, and CD Projekt said all of that would be for free. They also said (before TW 2 release) that they were already thinking about doing at least one expansion for the game, and that it would be a paid expansion.

Let's play the weekly screenshot FB competion, then. They're giving it for free ;)

And if you don't have any FB accounts, it's time to make once, just for it. My opinion of course :)

About spending money for CDPR:
I'm still waiting for a super EE. Like it was for W1

Expansion please. I don't want CDPR to jump on the DLC bandwagon..

I am also waiting to give CDPR more money so please do a few large and extended DLC's so we can give you money.

Some examples.

A DLC with Dandelion similar to TW1's Alina quest.
A DLC with Shani.
A DLC with Zoltan.
A DLC with new monsters, realistic monsters like in TW1.
A DLC without fighting, dialogue and story that involves a few characters.

One condition is they have to be playable while in game and no QTE's.

For me I like the small free DLC's that we are getting (who doesn't like free stuff) keep it up.

Item packs, forget em, dont waste dev time and money on them, even if they are free.

What I'd pay for is an expansion pack, maybe another chapter, or realy big side quest, or even a bridge between w2 and w3.

But what ever you do just keep the content dlc's comeing (even if we have to pay for them)

I never bought single DLC because I dont support it. I hate DLCs. And even if I love CDPR and Witcher, I wouldnt give my money for any DLC. Expansion is something different of course, but I would prefer that they would focus already on W3 instead on some expansion.

When it comes to paying for content, i'd much prefer to pay a decent amount for an expansion, than small amounts for DLCs.

Cheap DLCs are very annoying. Not because of the cost, but all the hassle that surrounds it. Take android apps for example, my google account already has my credit card on it. It takes literally one button, the thing is bought, it gets downloaded onto my phone. And if I ever change phones or have to reset it, it just downloads again automagically.

With cheap DLCs, often that involves yet another website that needs my credit card details. Also, if it's something that you have to pay for, often there's authentication / drm involved (although I guess with the witcher this could be an exception). Either way, it means more hassle if I need to install the game onto a new computer, or if I need to reinstall it.

Often the hassle of paid for DLCs is about as bad as the hassle of dealing with a drm game. >.

I just want a merch store. my shelves are alarmingly devoid of witcher merchandise. I want to buy hoodies, shirts, mugs, POSTERS, ART BOOKS, MEDALLIONS, etc.

seriously, demand is sky-high.

Naturally anything like Free DLC and/or an expansion pack. Sounds yummy actually.

I don't enjoy the DLC used by EA/Bioware I mean please, pay them more money for armour?

I'll not talk about mechandise.....

I would totally buy some merchandise but it has to be good. About the DLC I think CDPR is doing the right thing, more armors, weapons and little quests should be free but I would not mind buying a long expansion.

I appreciate the free DLC, I appreciate the freebies you throw at us, I appreciate the way you speak to the community.

Some of us would be more than happy to pay you for these services if you can figure out a nifty way to do it, which I am sure you can.

TLDR: CDPR is one of the few devs out there that are actually worthy of getting paid for DLC and continued addons and it's ironic that it's one of the few that isn't charging. I think they should take advantage of it to a small extent for the sake of the consumers getting great games and the developers getting money to add to their money pile. Thanks.

Heh...;) This post reminds me of an old adage: Never look a gift horse in the mouth. Translated: when someone gives you something don't look at them and ask them "Why?" as if they'd lost their minds...;) Rather, accept such gifts humbly and thankfully, and count your good fortune.

CDPR is doing something I wish other companies would do--they are building value in their product releases. By providing things free of charge that other companies want to milk their customers for, CDPR is saying loud and clear: "When you buy our games you get a lot more than the game itself for the price!" The method to the apparent madness is that CDPR can expect to sell a lot more of its games--versus having them pirated--than other companies who get greedy and think their customers should pay for every...last...pixel.

I think your problem might be that you've been brainwashed by other companies into accepting that their games at release are worth a lot less than what you paid for them, and so the only way to get value out of them is to keep on buying additional content and features for them--you know, all the stuff that *should have been in the original game but wasn't.*. CDPR, thankfully, doesn't want to work that way. If you want to support CDPR to the fullest then buy their games when they release them. That's all they ask--and that's why they deserve our support.

Maybe I'm just a selfish greedy bastard, but they are giving us free micro DLC for a reason: its not really worth paying for. So far, it's been micro in every sense of the word. Am I ungrateful? Certainly not. I am thrilled with the free stuff we have gotten. But CDPR doesn't need to embrace the cheese-dick practices that EA and other scumbags implement. If CDPR wants to give us something for free, let them. If you want to give them more money, set up a a paypal account and send them some..or just buy the game twice like I did.

I'm with WaltC and Slimgrin. I don't want to ruin anybody's good time, and it's wonderful that there are so many happy Witcher fans, but I would prefer it if CDPR held onto its customer base by doing what it's doing now: timely patches, free micro-dlc, very restrained dabbling in merchandise, etc. They have an excellent product, and they support it well. I really don't want them to get so self-assured that they adopt the business practices or game design habits of Bioware/EA.

Source? If it's the statement I have in mind, you misinterpreted it. What they said is, that they'll do patches and DLCs, and for free. If they'd charge money, it would have to be for something big like an expansion. From what I gathered, they did not say that they had actual plans for an expansion - just a little "what if"-game.

+1 for the merchandise. I, too, would love a coffee mug and other stuff!

Yes... If i remember correctly it was something like:
*All dlc will be free.
*If there is something for purchase it will be a expansion

Not 100% correct quote but yeah.

Merchandise will be gladly bought by fans who want like mugs, medallions etc. because they are physical stuff whereas a piece of software like a DLC no matter how good it is there will be those who will cry for paying for it. And yes though I'm so far very happy with CDPR's work, the dlcs so far are nothing more than the regular 'more outfits/armour/weapon' thing and doesn't matter if one doesn't play them at all! It has its advantages but not a necessary (like I got a the hunter's armour very early in the game which was good at that point of time then actually getting it later one, where it might not be of use as better ones might have been available by then)
Till now fans (well almost) are happy if an actual content based dlc is ever released, it will gladly be purchased but again there will be those who will complain no matter what.

Just like Alfred said in TDK, "Some men just want to watch the world burn down" --> "There are always ppl who will whine for anything and about everything"

You can always buy another copy of The Witcher 2 to support CDPR, if you really want.

Well in that case, you may as well just make a direct donation.

I think the point is, we don't want to just give away money but we do want to support them. I would buy a mug with a nice design on it for say, $20 more than I would otherwise pay for a similar quality mug. But I don't have a habit of just donating $20 to companies I like :p
