Good-bye

I'm afraid I have to resign as a moderator of the Witcher forum. I'm sorry to leave the other moderators one short, just as the forum is finally coming back up, but I just can't do it anymore.

I'll still stop in to say hello from time to time (much as The Silver does), and many of my friends here have my e-mail address. (I'm terrible about answering mail, but I usually do it eventually.)

I've loved the Witcher forum for three years, and I've become fond of many of you. I've been awed by how people from so many countries can come together (mostly) in harmony and help one another. It's been a great experience. Unfortunately, I need to go.

I wish all of you well, my dears.

Love,

Cory

I've on this forum since getting the Witcher on 2008 and you were already a mod. Thank you for all your valuable contribution to the forum and the Witcher Wiki. Do stop by and post, who knows, you might get the urge and will be back in, sad to see you must go. Good luck with all future endeavors.

Aww, Corylea, we'll miss you as a moderator (I know what a thankless job it is, and you did it so patiently). Don't be a stranger. And thank you for your wonderful "Medical Problems" adventures.

I've been here for only a very short while, but you seem like a good person from your posts. Good luck with whatever you're doing, wherever you are. *hugs*

I don't really know you, but saw enough to respect you as a mod. Why are you leaving?

If someone's bothering you or something I'm sure most of us would be willing to bring an angry, pitchfork-wielding mob to their doorstep, no biggie. Just saying, aren't there any alternatives? Goodbyes are always so sad ):

Don't make us kidnap your pets to blackmail you into staying. My car is too small to fit most pets, and you probably live far away. The logistics would be a nightmare. Can't you see what you're doing to us by leaving?

Corylea,

you are not only one of my friends here. You've been an excellent moderator and you've always been a precious, priceless member of the community. You gave us a lot and probably, you've received a few back. I'm proud to have you as friend and as a collegue. You know that we have started this job together and I'm sad to hear that we can't work together anymore. I have learnt a lot from you, and I'd rather to learn even more. I've always admire you're wisdom, your kindness, your cleverness. I'm sure you could have been a brilliant help for CDP and for the community.

Anyway, you know that this is not goodbye for us as friends. We'll keep in touch, right?

In case you wanna stop here time to time, you will always find your crazy little crew of friends at the Hairy Bear. And I'll take care of a fresh raspberry juice, in the fridge, ready for you.

See ya

Oh my, This is a sad day!

Thank you, Cory, for all you brought to the Witcher community over the years.
Thank you for your excellent moderation of the forums.
Thank you for two superb Witcher adventures.
Thank you for helping the whole modding community and thank you for helping me, personally.

I'm not thanking you for ripping the heart out of our community (pardon the drama), but be sure that you'll always be welcome back with open arms by all of us, if you'll find yourself able to return. Please come by once in a while, yes?

I guess travellers can't be stopped, though, so I wish you all the best for the next part of your life.

Corylea,

Ive only been in the Witcher community for a short time, but I have read many of you posts and you have always been so helpful and light hearted to everyone. And thank you for your delightful mods, who else would have thought to give the drowners striped and polka dotted pajamas? *giggles*

May the road always rise to meet you!

Corylea,

Thank you for all the time that you devoted to the Witcher community and thank you for your great, great mods. You've created some of the most interesting mods and some of the most interesting posts on this forum and we will miss you here. I wish your mods, especially Medical Problems, would get more exposure, they definitely deserve it! It's a pity that we are losing such a creative modder. Thank you for the enormous amount of work that you put into your mods. All the best to you and good luck with your current projects! I hope you visit the forum soon.

I guess I should explain why I'm leaving. I didn't want to bore everybody or drag everybody down, but I guess if I just say, "I'm leaving," people will think I'm going away mad or something.

There are a couple of things going on.

1. As I've said before, I have a chronic illness. That's part of why I used to be so active on the forum, actually; sitting in a chair and typing was something that I could actually DO (at least, I could on a good day). But then our Internet went out for a week, and I noticed that I was a lot better during that week. I had thought that the Witcher forum gave me more in happiness than it subtracted in energy, and I guess that did used to be true. But lately it's seemed like more of a drain, and I need to focus on using my limited energy to improve my health.

2. CDPR took the forum down for 81 days. That let me know just how important the forum is to them -- just below pond scum, apparently. ) Although I missed the forum desperately during the first month or two, by the time more than two months had passed, I had moved on in my heart. It had felt as if the forum partly belonged to me, thorough my having devoted so much energy to it, but when CDPR took it down for 81 days, that made it clear that it doesn't belong to me at all, not the least little bit. And I don't feel as if I can pour huge gobs of energy into a place that can be made to vanish at someone else's whim.

3. Because the forum was down, I couldn't announce my new adventure when it was ready. "Medical Problems 2" came out two days before The Witcher 2 -- the perfect thing to tide people over while they waited for TW2 -- but nobody knew about it because the forum was down. If anybody has actually played MP2, they've been awfully quiet about it, because there are no comments at all in the MP2 thread. I spent a year making that game, and I think there's some cool stuff in there. But if anybody gives a damn, they haven't mentioned it in that thread.

4. The Witcher 2 is a very good game, but to me, it's only a game. It didn't grab me and excite me and make me want to have EVERYBODY play it, the way The Witcher 1 did. It didn't feel like something I wanted to devote myself to. I'm not eager to discuss every possible nuance, to ponder the reasons behind every line of dialogue, to wonder about every mystery, the way I was with TW1. Cool game. Finished it. Done.

But there are plenty of people who DO love TW2, and I don't want to rain on their parade. I don't want to stick around and point out how much more heart and soul TW1 had and drag everybody down.

Anyway, I'm very fond of many of the people here, and I love what CDPR did in TW1, and nothing that happens with my health or with TW2 can change that. But I need to focus on other things now, not just for my own good but also for the good of the community here. You don't need me being here and being grumpy. You need the positive energy of the folks who loved TW2.

Hugs and best wishes all around.
