3. Because the forum was down, I couldn't announce my new adventure when it was ready. "Medical Problems 2" came out two days before The Witcher 2 -- the perfect thing to tide people over while they waited for TW2 -- but nobody knew about it because the forum was down. If anybody has actually played MP2, they've been awfully quiet about it, because there are no comments at all in the MP2 thread. I spent a year making that game, and I think there's some cool stuff in there. But if anybody gives a damn, they haven't mentioned it in that thread.

Ouch that's so sad! I noticed the annoucment somewhere before TW2 but I haven't played it yet. Though I intend to as soon as I've time: Too busy at the moment! But I'm really looking forward to it. I promise to give you a long feedback after I've played it. The first one was so great.
It's true to most that when TW2 came it takes some time to go back to TW1. It's pity how much your effort got ignored :(

I got it. Think you should wait for Corylea's reply to know about this.

For those who are interested in Corylea's Medical Problems 1-2, here's the link to her website, or you can click on my signature below for a direct link.

I've got it downloaded and installed since that conversation we had when I realized it was out. I've been so busy and tired lately that I haven't really played any games at all the past few months. I was saving MP2 for when I can focus on it and give it the attention it deserves. I'll make sure to post in that thread once I finish it (although it will probably take me awhile to play the level because I take my time and play very slowly).

Anyhow, I hope you get well and good luck with everything :)

It has been almost three years. I love Witcher 1, but I could not even force myself to finish Witcher 2. Stayed in Flotsam for good.

I was very keen to read your review of the Witcher 2 and hear your thoughts of the new RED. I guess W2 changed everything not only for me. Witcher forum used to be the first place I checked every day for many months, but since the come back of the new forum I did not bother.

I just put your posts in the favourites and checked them from time to time. New engine can't even sort them by date. Pity.

Your decision is both sad and logical. Seeing and following your passion with W1, I would have been very surprised if W2 took the same place in your heart.

MP/MP2 will neither be forgotten nor unappreciated.

I wish you all the best. Take care.

Corlyea, you were here for the community, not for CDPR. You don't work for them. Don't leave.

I'm quite new around here but you were among the first who greeted me with such warmth that I knew a forum with kind moderators like you must be a haven for witcher fans. Thank you and good luck for the future.

I was heading out the door last post and didn't get in all I wanted to say.

1. Cory, CDPR botched the forums big time. Getting them up months after release frustrated me too. The result is that the community is much smaller than it could have been. Really, for such a succesful AAA release, this community is tiny. I'm wondering if CDPR's do-it-yourself approach is unrealistic for a small developer. I've said before that CDPR needs to outsource to the right people. The forums is one in a fairly long list of other examples where they have outsourced to the wrong people. It's happened too many times.

2. I'm a little irritated Cory has stated in only vague terms why she doesn't like TW2. It was the first thing I did when I finished the game; provide a thoughtful list of pros and cons. The developers deserve to hear this, and I think it would help if Corlea got a chance to do the same. So what if it rains on someone's parade? We can handle it.

3. In regard to your health, I'm sorry to hear it and hope for better health in the future.

4. The biggest loss here is you apparantly have no interest in working with the new engine. I was excited to see what you may have done with it, especially since CDPR said they will be releasing a toolkit.

5. I said I would play part two of your adventure. I had trouble downloading/installing it, don't know why. With TW2 and SSF4 on my pc, it got pushed aside and I'm sorry about that. Yours was the only TW1 adventure I played to completion, and I have every intention of finishing the second part.

I wish you luck, but I also wish you would give TW2 a chance as it takes multiple runs to really appreciate the game. and I want to hear of any future projects you plan.

I quite understand why Cory was disappointed with TW2. I was too since the first game felt like it was made just for me. I actually even considered quitting gaming altogether back in 2007 and then I heard about The Witcher and it blew me away. A mature and complex cRPG with a very dark and at the same time magical world. The Witcher 1 was something special, more than your usual WRPG to me.

While I still enjoyed The Witcher 2, I'm not happy about the direction CDPR has taken. The game has way too much direction and cutscenes. The first game was IMO perfect in a sense that most interactions with NPCs were via dialog and only the most important bits of the story were directed. With the sequel the focus is on cinematic feel and over the top setpieces. The game felt more like a (barely) interactive movie most of the time than a game. There's like a cutscene in every 5 minutes at times and it can be quite annoying. The game takes the control of Geralt from the player way too often.

Also, the combat system is a huge immersion breaker. Geralt in TW2 feels like a grandpa compared to the agile and incredibly fast Geralt from the first game. And now pirouettes are replaced with the retarded looking rolling -.-. I truly miss the different combat styles from the first game.

Lastly altho RED engine looks phenomenal it has some annoying issues. The lighting is weird. There's bloom everywhere and even at nights it's barely dim outside. You can see almost as good as during the day which completely destroys the atmosphere of hunting monsters at night. And even if you took a cat potion you'll end up with a freakin' X-ray vision.. :/

And then there's the absolutely underwhelming bestiary compared to the first game and.. uh. Yeah, I'll leave it at that. Lot of things annoy me with the sequel. Compared to the competition The Witcher 2 is still in a place devs like Bioware can't hope to reach anytime soon but it still disappointed me.

:/

Thank you, Marcin. I really appreciate your leaving the door open like that. Thank you for caring about the community here.

Thanks also to the many friends who've wished me such beautiful good-byes, especially to my beloved Secondchildren and to Fantasta and Delightful McCoy.

Belamiru, I had no idea. Thank you so much for letting me know that my words have touched you.

J_Slash, the reason why you can't send me PM's is because the new, "improved" forum now has a PM quota, and I'm over it. I need to clear out something like 200 PM's before I can receive them again. I can still send them, though, so I'll PM you my e-mail address.

I HAVE done this, Slimgrin; I just didn't do it in THIS thread, where it's not appropriate. If you want to see my review of TW2, it's here: http://en.thewitcher.com/forum/index.php?/topic/22251-the-witcher-1-vs-the-witcher-2-which-one-do-you-prefer/page__view__findpost__p__692548

I never intended to mod TW2, even before it came out, when I was still wildly excited about the game. I've been saying for several months that I intended to make a stand-alone game after I finished MP2, and so I am.

Anyone who downloaded MP2 when it first came out should download it again, since I've made a few tweaks to it since its initial release. (Get it from my website, which always has the latest version; you can find it here.)

Corylea, you were one of the first people I talked to on TW forum, and you welcomed me so nicely that I´ve become a regular visitor here. You really make me feel welcome here :D
Thank you very much for your kind attitude no matter what and for your thoughtful care for all people here.
I´ll miss you, but I wish you luck with your project and life itself!!

Wait a minute Corylea, you're making a stand alone game? Can you divulge any details? Are you working with a team? Do you have a publisher? Which genre is it in...etc?

Awesome :D I wish I had the skill and perseverance to make my own game too. I'm so happy for you that you're ready to move on to something bigger and I hope everything goes well.

Cool :D I finally have a bit of free time so I was just going to start MP2 tonight. I'm glad I checked here first else I wouldn't have known it was updated. And just to let you know how much I'm looking forward to playing MP2, I've also got Planescape Torment and Deus Ex: Human Revolution sitting on my desk (been looking forward to them for quite a long time) but MP2 is what I want to play first :)

Such was the impact of The Witcher 1 game.

I am not a keen poster but an avid fan of the witcher. Corylea goes way back and the old forums used to be great and a fantastic place to visit. For some reason the forum format changed and unfortunately, many peeps drifted off.

Then came TW2 and as stated the forums were down for way too long. Corylea was and always will be a witcher as i, but
such is the way of gaming i fully understand her views.

Get well Corylea, and hopefully the devs can take The Witcher further but within similar game play as the original..

My best wishes..

Goodbye, Corylea. I really like you, and as others have already said, your are a great person. The community will not be the same without you. Too much has changed after these months the forums were down...
I feel the same way as you about the game. As for the forum-it used to be my favorite place on the Internet, but now it just doesn't feel right.
Perhaps the time has come for me to leave gaming behind.

It felt like CDP intentionally destroyed the community by keeping the forums down for so long. Why did they do this? I'd really like to know if they consider us this insignificant...But that is irrelevant at point.

Farewell and good luck:)))
