GOTY edition questions

I'm not sure if anyone already asked or was there any information on the topic.
1. If I already have game + both expansion - do I still have to purchase it or I can upgrade to GOTY edition (for free or less than full game cost)?
2. Will there be any difference from base game + 2 expansions and all DLCs?

Going with the fact that this is CDPR, as a person who is following them since the first game I can say that you will most likely have the GOTY edition for free if you have the base game and the expansions, and that there will probably be more things in the GOTY edition. But I wouldn't expect A LOT of things added. Maybe some small cosmetic stuff (especially if that August publish date is true. If they have more time, maaaaybe something more substantial might be added).

Of course the official answer will come when they actually announce it.

I also followed them since W1, but they changed a lot since then. Kinda. Also previous games didn't have paid expansions, so it was a lot easier. I think it will most likely replace base game and for those who only have base game without expansions or only with 1 expansion there will be an option to upgrade, but I'm not sure.

goty is no enhanced edition, so most likely the goty edition is te game, the expansions and dlc, all together ,no new content
new content would be enhanced edition

anyway, i too hope it's just a free update for those who already own the game and the expansions

The way I see it: If you already own both expansions and the base game (plus the 16 free DLC pieces), you already have the GOTY. Unless they're adding new stuff., which I somehow doubt.

Although I doubt this is going to happen, I would not mind a paid update if it made significant additions at a reasonable price. For example, if it included an amount of new content that is comparable to half of Hearts of Stone (which, as a percentage of the entire game, would be about similar to what was added in TW2:EE), and it was made available to owners of the original game + expansions at a discount of 90%. Nevertheless, what I actually expect is a simple bundle of everything that has already been released so far, with whatever (probably small) changes that are going to be made in the patch(es) until the release, at a somewhat better price than the current game + expansion pass package. So, more like Skyrim's Legendary Edition than the Enhanced Edition of the previous game, and people who previously bought a "digital" version of the game (e.g. on Steam) with the expansions essentially already have the GOTY edition.

If this is the case, which I hope it isn't but it probably very likely. They should have just been able to lower the price and rename the "game+expansion pass"-package and replace the file on the server with an updated version of the game shortly after the GOTY Edition announcement was made. The only thing I can imagine taking time is printing all the discs for retail (console).

They probably also want to patch the game some more before releasing this edition. There are still many bugs that would ideally need to be fixed.

actually what i don't understand is that if you're NOT adding extra content, what's the point of it?

- It is more convenient for people who prefer a physical edition without having to download any patches or DLCs (mainly console users).
- More sales. :)

But it may still include some extras, even if not necessarily anything major.

I would love them to incorporate the monsters from DLC 2 into the base game myself

If they'll throw in some things/improvements into GOTY ed. Optional exploration-only first person cam would do wonders for immersion.

I hope they call it the Enhanced Edition. Otherwise my OCD will kick in hahaha.

actually what i don't understand is that if you're NOT adding extra content, what's the point of it? a combined edition is simply just Wild Hunt + expansion pass, which is already being sold today...

The point is money. Probably it will come in a new box with some physical maps and a few extras. It is thought for people who hasn't bought the game yet. Or for those who loves TW3

I would be very surprised if it's just the game + expansions, really really really. I would expect just this from any other company, but not from CDPR. Not in august. August gives them enough time to provide with a bit more content. Nothing major really, but I would bet my hat on improved assets using the experience accumulated with B&W. Definitely not all the assets, but some of them. Modders do it, I see no reason why some devs in CDPR couldn't. It's the kind of thing that doesn't even require more than 3 guys working on it, gives good advertisement to the GOTY edition, and makes it more than a bundled pack.

It seems unlikely to me that CDPR will add any new content on that release.

But if they do, shouldn't we not get those extra stuff too separately, as we own the game already.?

However, nothing seems to confirm such a thing.

--------

The only sure thing about what may be included on that GOTY edition, is the statement of game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz

According to him
:

“With all the free DLC and updates the game received so far, including significant changes to the game’s interface
and mechanics, many gamers have asked us if we’re working on some sort of a Game of the Year Edition,
“I’m happy to confirm — yes, plans are in motion to release such an edition.

If you look a bit closer the major keys here are:

  • All the free DLC and updates the game received so far.
  • Including significant changes to the game’s interface and mechanics.
That means to me (the most likely scenario)

  1. The main game (of course)
  2. The 2 expansions
  3. Patch 1.20 (at least)
----------

As for who's wanna buy that game, as we have it already anyway...

The GOTY, can help a game earn extra sales, especially from people who’ve held out on the original release.
After hearing all the magnificent things about The Wither 3, they’ll be more likely to purchase it when they see a version
that comes with all of the downloadable content.

~ my 2¢ ~

goty edition is perfect for people who don't have the game, but for us, who already have the game and the expansions, there is nothing new

Yeah, that's pretty much the assumption that I'm operating under. If you own the base game, both expansions, and have downloaded all of the free DLC, what's the allure of the GOTY edition? Why would you even want to "upgrade," since it's essentially the same thing that you already have.

I'm more looking forward to a graphical upgrade which will hopefully bring back the saturation, lights, advanced facial expressions, textures etc. that were presented in E3 2014 era. But I'm afraid it won't happen like that, because I saw in the news that CDPR is not preparing the GOTY Edition with the intention of enhancing it for PS4 Neo or XONE Scorpio, and hence I doubt the PC version will be graphically enhanced either... Still I can't dampen my hope. :X
