Writing is a very subjective thing - I've read accounts of people complaining about writing that I found perfectly acceptable. This was often followed by comparing the subject under review to one of the best-written games in the genre. The Internet, if I may generalize, seems to have only a Best/Everything else is shite optionset sometimes.
That said, yes, the story and characters in GTA 5 are better than Watch Dogs. Trevor is great, Michael is consistent and Franklin is believable.
The calibre of writing is about the same in both games and the plot, as far as I've gotten in GTA 5, is the usual crime-and-profit gigs.
The dialogue in GTA 5 is often ludicrous or spoof-like, of course, with just enough seriousness to make it semi-believable.
In the end, it's pretty much up to you what you want out of the writing. It's no Angela's Ashes, either of these games.

Much as I may regret it I picked up Saints Row IV off Steam because there was a very cheap bundle option.
While hardly the most "serious" TPS ever made (which is good because my driving and shooting are laughable at best) so far it's been "playable" (but I'm still VERY early in the game).

GTAV I have to say is probably my favorite in the series so far. The story is better and all 3 characters are fun to follow. Also the world was amazing to explore and get lost in.

As for spoilers, meh, Aiden. Game has been out for nearly a year. We're not going to go out of our way to spoil it, but it's old news. Far as I'm concerned, spoiling stuff only matters if it's unknown to all or just out. After a month or two, it's not really fair to expect everyone else to keep you in the dark about something we've all been through.

Get GTA V if it comes to PC, it was fun. I enjoyed Watch Dogs more so far, but that's me.
Cool thanks, having more friends to play with instead of randoms is always great. My irl friends don't get online so often so I'll take any excuse to play online with people I'm friendly with. Played this briefly on my friend's xbox. I was amazed at how beautiful it was. Not holding out for a good PC port though.
