graphics glitch

On some characters, Geralt and Triss for instance there's this graphics glitch, these spikes are justting from their bodies. The best I can describe it is its as if someone took a paintbrush and brushed out to create them. my laptop is a Toshiba satellite, AMD Turion 64X2 dual core, 2 gigs RAM and 128 meg ATI Radeon x1200 graphics card.

That symptom is pretty well confined to a case of driver conflict with the game. After that much is sorted out, however, that isn't any actual video card, AFAIK. It's only an Xpress onboard CHIP, which means is is several miles of performance capability below the game's minimum, as should be obvious from the "200" in its name.

If that were true, I wouldn't be able to run the game at all, now would I? Not very helpful.

====================================================== 4. your X1200 is actually a X700 design but with less pixel- and vertex-pipelines. so you are below minimum game specs :(

I hate to say it, but that bug has been reported a couple of times here on the boards, it's always been on computers with onboard/shared memory graphics (Intel GMA, ATI x200), and those who reminded the poster that he's way below the minimum requirements of the game have always heard the same "you're not helpful". So what would you like to hear instead? How to turn your entry-level graphics chip into a midrange gaming card? Sorry, there's no way. Actually, I think the Witcher can /theoretically/ be played on onboard graphics chips, like NWN2 and others did too (very slow and choppy or with graphics bugs), but that was never supported. I think the graphical anomalies you see have to do with the limited pixel/vertec pipelines, because the next better cards with slightly better features (increased number of pixel/vertex shaders) seems to run the game without anomalies. Might also have to do with shared memory, memory bandwith or whatever, but it's obvious only the very entry-level chips have those glitches.

Lol, i can safely say you will get no help whatsoever from now on with that attitude. The posts above are just, like it or not, stating the facts. No point getting in a hissy fit because you ignored the game requirements.Enjoy the game! :-* :D

i actually had the same problem and i was using the ati x200 express, with shared memory, i upgraded to a different card and voila fixed the prblem, now geral and triss do not have spikes comming out of them, i think the posters who mentioned the problemhad ot right on, get a new card and itll fix your problem, youll still be able to run the game with the x200 as long as you dont mund unicorned characters
