Graphics, not that impressive

+
I'm running the game at max@1440p (also max ray tracing). I was actually expecting better graphics from this game. I feel like the graphic is ten years old with as much ray tracing as possible on top. Not at all next gen. Of course some scenes looks really nice, especially indoor scenes. Also the main characters looks very good. But when walking around in the city I think much of the environment looks very "square" and boring. Once you start looking at details there are not many round corners.
Also the animations are very stiff and the character facial animations are not very good. If you take away the ray tracing it looks like its made for PS4 and Xbox One (and other seven year old hardware), and it can't even run on that.

I hope future updates can make this game look better on the new generation of consoles and PC. Have attached some screenshots of what i think is bad
and boring graphics.

I think youre being overly picky. This game is beautiful in every way. Really, how much more detailed do you want things. I dont have the latest greatest rig here....but it is a AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6ghz 6 core and a AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT with 16gigs of ram. I dont even know where my graphic settings are set at......i havent even touched them yet....i assume its defaulted to high...but hell i have no clue. Dont care.

My game looks just as good or better than yours. I couldnt possibly ask for any more than that.

I am impressed by every corner of Night City, this game is an absolute chef d'oeuvre in terms of art design, not even technically speaking. Some of the views are enough beautiful to make me cry. I am playing in 4K, every option maxed out exept "RT Shadows" that is useless in comparison to the quality gain. I feel rarely such immersion since 20years of gaming on high-end PCs.

The screenshots i posted are from places in the city that I think don't look very well. I feel that much of the outdoor city is like that. Boring roads with little details. Almost every thing you look at has sharp edges. I'm not a graphics specialist and I do not not now how much tessellation (or any other technique for that matter) eats up the FPS. I just think the city could look much more nicer (dirtier and not so slick) and that they should have pushed the graphics boundaries a little more.

But of course there are places thats look very nice as well. And some of the scenes for example when you pick up the spider (in your screenshot) looks very good. As I said, I think that indoor scenes mostly looks very nice.

My fps could be much much higher but the game itself looks fabulous. 4k looks much better than 1440p but @1440p with RT Ultra with DLSS looks good. Did you check your DLSS settings? Also turn off film grain, CA, MB, DOF. They effect how the game will be perceived.
Ultra DLSS looks best even if you take a fps hit. I'd rather have nicer looking graphics than performance mode. And you really don't need psycho mode unless taking pictures. Plus I am not sure what you want a city to look like. The game is suppose to be gritty looking. A city is dirty and worn in most places. If you go to the rich district around AC everything looks very nice texture wise. I have an RTX 2080ti and I am happy with the look of the game. I would like to get a 3000 series card though to enjoy some more fps but graphically I can still play at Ultra settings with RT DLSS Ultra @1440p.
Here are some of my 1440p screenshots I may have had CA on in some of the pics and FOV distorts the edges also:

Personally I think ray-tracing is overhyped. It's more about the whole package that next-gen engines can do, of which ray-tracing is 1 part.

Back to this. You want to turn up the tesselation to increase detail.
If on AMD graphics you just opent the RADEON software up and add cyberpunk as a game then upder the options choose over-ride tesselation x64. That will give you more detail in the game. You can also try upping the anti-aliasing and using sub-sampling.
People spend too much time jacking off about resolution 4k etc when really its about getting the details & lighting up as high as you can on your system.
This is what tweaking does before & after: This is amd tweaked vs RTX 3090:

Your game looks magnificent. I havent seen that statue yet...where is it.

Damn, so many places in Night City i havent seen yet.
It is in Japantown I think since it says Jig-Jig street in the picture.

Ray Tracing is not overhyped. Screenshots do not do any justice to what you actually see on screen. How the game integrates RT will change how things look yes. Control used all RT effects which made it look way better than raster. But if you just have one RT effect in a game you may miss what is happening unless you know what to look for. And 4k looks ay better than 1440p by far. There is a stark difference especially with RT on. DLSS can help in a lot of ways now that it is better than before. But even then 4k will always look better on a large screen. Small screens you can't tell as much of a difference for obvious reasons.
If I play a gamer at 1080p on my 4k TV it looks sort of crappy. But change that same game to 4k and it looks stunning. Resolution is only as good as the screen you are seeing it on. Large is better the higher resolution you go otherwise 1080p might look similar to 4k on a 27" monitor unless it is a very good one with good colors and refresh, etc.

Here are some 4k screenshots with RT Ultra DLSS since I can't separate them in one post or don't know how. RTX 2080ti, 9900k, 32 Gb RAM, Win 10 :)

Nice. I wont really know the difference until playing in person on an RTX.

My understanding of DLSS is that it's using AI to artificaly upscale probably with vectors vs pixel. The point is we can't tell the difference once it's output. The same technique used for these old black & white movies fixed & upscaled to 4k @ 60P.

Anyway here's my selection. Have loved the game so far 90 hors in, but bugs are starting to wind me up.

Macbook pro 15". AMD 5500m 4GB . i9. 16GB Ram. m.2 SSD. I play outputing to my 75" 4ktv. TV upscales it.

Japantown is my favourite area. Then yesturday discovered a bit that looks just like the the home in San Andreas! So much hidden content to enjoy. In a years time this game will be epic.

Oh no, I disagree. Running on 1080p ultra with no ray tracing and the game is visually stunning. I love the models, architecture, clothes (that I see on the NPCs), skin and even the very brilliant lighting. Graphical and musical excellence. I only wonder how when everything else went to pot.

Okay, if you want to convince anyone, please put up comparisons between the two configs in the exact same scene, it makes zero sense to compare two entriely different scenes and say "look how my optimization looks better" what am I suppose to look at? Specially since resolution differences don't translate well into screenshots that are downsampled to the same res

This is my game running on everything at ultra. With no RT on. The game looks nice. It has weird tech issue and limitations that I hope they fix. But it is a nice looking game.

I would have a play with bringing you gamma down a little.
It's in the graphics menu.
At night there should be alot more bounced light to see.
Here's your screen shot with a little contrast applied.

I inteintally have gamma up. I don't not care to play a game in the dark. Just because that's what it's suppose to be.

Yeah... Graphics are amazing in the game, maybe you need to up your specs. I play with it all on ultra, with Ray tracing on. Looks great to me.

If you are used to play on a PS4 or Xbox One I would guess its easy to get amazed, but I don't the game is next generation at all. It has some nice scenes as I already pointed out. But I think driving around in the city, most of the graphic is much straight lines (square) and boring. This game shouldn't have been built for PS4 and Xbox One.

I run the game on a 3080 at max settings in 1440p (DLSS on quality). I actually had hoped that this game would push the boundaries a bit more. I think ray tracing is cool and looks awesome, but when the city life looks as "square" as it does now, this shines through. I just hope they can improve this.
