I think I may not have explained my point well enough.
CDPR can't provide fixes that will work with a game you have installed a third-party mod to. FCR is not their work. Making games work the way you want them to with FCR installed is not their responsibility.
It's fair to ask them to fix the basic game, though it's not going to be done, because there's already a mod that does it.
But demanding any kind of support for a game that has been modded is quixotic. No developer will do that.
Since when is the FCR "not their work?"
And I'm not asking for them to make a mod compatible, I'm asking them to fix the basic game so a mod isn't needed in the first place. The grass was just fine before the Enhanced Edition was released. With the EE, some genius at CDPR pasted in a wrong grass texture. As a result, the two textures used for grass (the low quality "distant" texture and the high quality "LOD" texture) are
different colors. So when running around in a grassy area the grass in your immediate vicinity will jarringly turn bright yellow whenever you get close, then back to the normal green as it gets further away.
The problem is that the LOD distance is EXTREMELY close, and it's painfully obvious during gameplay. This can't be fixed by changing the foilage distance in the INI as that only changes how far away the actual foliage is rendered in the first place, not which texture is used on it. There's no official way to change the texture LOD setting, it's baked into the engine and it is what it is.
The point of all this is that this is a
bug that CDPR introduced with the 3.0 release of TW2. Prior to that, the grass textures for both distant and high quality were the same color. Green. After 3.0 they're now two colors. One green, one yellow. CDPR did that. A mod didn't do it. CDPR did.
So here we are in 2014, the problem that CDPR introduced still isn't patched, and now I have to choose between playing a game with good combat and jarring, immersion-killing grass pop in or a game with absolutely terrible combat and immersive environments. That's ridiculous, especially when this texture thing could be fixed by one of their artists in less than an hour. It's the wrong color. Just change it back to the right one.
Geez.
