First of all thanks for the reply

I saw that and I am genuinely glad, although the question goes deeper. What are your plans on the former trio cards, is there a chance to bring them back even without getting new ones of them? I'm not sure about that, but if I recall correctly I didn't see the artist credits in the cards preview screen on the PTR, this was a gesture I always admired and even if that sounds odd I thought it was decent to read the name in ones hand as a credit for a beautiful artwork.

I wasn't talking about RNG cards as I said complex and skillrewarding, although I think that Create is mishandled in/with the standard mode.
The game was complex not complicated which is perferct, therefore there was no reason in my opinion to get rid of that complexity. And there is no doubt that gwent lost its complexity in a tremendous amount.
Gwent had so much potential and created itself so much more space, to suddenly throw all of it away its just sad. I'm talking about dozens of unique abilities and interesting mechanics that have been erased over the last months.
Just to mention two more. I thought Brave and especially Effort were fantastic mechanics. Effort in particular optimal to grant cards that turned out to be too situational and weak in lots of times or on the other hand too strong most times the treatment they'd need to be balanced. For Brave the game is too swingy at the moment, still it was a nice and well implemented idea to test it. I'm not a coniflip crybaby this just comes to my mind right now, Brave could help the player that lost the coinflip, for example grant the first 3 units - of that player - played in the game 3 base strength on deploy for being brave.
"[W]e still need to work on some of the abilities and archetypes to develop them more." Does that mean that some archetypes and abilities were removed because you didn't have a clue at that very moment to align them in what you had in mind for gwents evolution and they probably come back somehow if you found a solution for them?
If that is so, is it possible to have an in depth video/stream of a couple of hours with members of the card designing and balancing team in which they explain such detailed and with examples to better understand how those guys understand the game and to get a clue of their vision - not only considering what will come but also taking care of why severe changes/decisions were made over the course of this now more and more gruffly strenuous journey. The developers streams aren't really explaining in my opinion and not as informative as I'd like them to be as an insight in the games development.
This mind sound somewhat salty, but I am really bothered seing cards being the exact same card with another artwork and having loads of them instead of having different, unique, thematic mechanics/abilities and less cards. I do totally understand that some cards are somehow placeholders and I don't really mind them; Not for the cost of former unique abilities tho, especially if there is no/even less reason to play that card afterwards.
Shieldmaidens were truly unique, at the start they were overstated after the nerf not played that much - totally fine - now there is literally no reason to play them. The reason you play Blue Mountain Commandos is because they are elves and u can get points through movement synergy out of them, Mahakam Volunteers are played because they are dwarves and you want to pull them with an agitator for a 14 point bronze, 4 bodies and 3 card deck thining. Shieldmaidens are 3*3 with nothing on top of that, beyond terrible in this state of the game - even if there would be such thing like a viable swarm skellige.
I could go on and on. You said "[you'd] still strongly believe that the game is very skill heavy". I don't, atleast not in relation to what it used to be. As I said I miss the feeling when playing; I talked about being proud or disappointed/annoyed of onesself for example.
Mistakes did hurt a lot and felt devastating, on the bright side you exactly knew what to work on. Every single time I did a stupid mistake - with raising skill more and more mistakes became stupid - I was indignant about my stupidity/thoughtlessness/inattentiveness, because such mistakes did cost me a lot of games. And I cared about winning, because it truly felt being solely a matter of skill if one won or lost game. The reaction to that was to work even harder and avoid those mistakes instinctively. On the other hand big/smart plays, good reads, etc were satisfying and incentivized to keep improving. That's gone now. I am not encouraged to play anymore, not to speak of improving.
I played a couple of excellent players - few of them still at the top of the leaders - back in the days and I either felt being the worse player in that game pretty apparent or I felt playing beyond my A game if I could keep up with such players and even win against them (in BO 3/5 from time to time) an estonishing and good felling - both of them. Those games made me learn a lot either way and were thrilling reliably.
I can't imagine this anymore in this state of the game and I can't since probably half a year.
tl;dr: Just a salty veteran player crying about the game losing complexity and therefore fun and its identity. Pestered by seeing a game he loved driving the cart against the wall with full speed, at least on a road that that player does not want to take.
I read a pretty good comparison in the forums once, it was something like:
"Gwent has become the close friend that started doing drugs."
I doubt that this is appropriate for the gwent ask a dev thread, if it is please move it right there, thanks a lot
