Gwent: The Witcher Card Game

After the successful third chapter of Witcher Saga, with over 10 million copies shipped worldwide, Gwent is becoming a stand-alone game according to a new trademark and logo registered by CD Projekt. The card game included in The Witcher 3 obtained a positive outcome, so much that Polish publisher decided to create a title for it. The trademark was filled with class 9 and 41 (videogames, software, etc.) into the European Union Intellectual Property Office two days ago (June 6th), with what seems to be the official logo. Here are the two logos and trademark.

WHO MIGHT HAVE GUESSED?

Great news and great move by CDPR.
Gwent is now probably the most successful and the most fleshed out mini-game ever, it would be a crime not to follow it up with a standalone game.

I'm wondering about the business model. Probably free to play with everything unlocked, but with some cosmetic effects and artworks to buy. That would be probably the wisest.
It could also make use of user content too - not whole decks probably - we all know new decks aren't canon, but maybe artwork, music or single cards.

Anyway, hyped!

Came here to post it. Seems like I'm late :) This is great news regardless though. Monsieur Monnier and @Rafal_Jaki must be over cloud nine (and hella busy, I'd wager) :) Can't wait to play it in my procrastination streaks.

@scratcherpen To be fair though, they never said "revolutionary". They just said that it's gonna be a genre that is never explored by the company, which, seems to be correct :)

Anyway, of course it won't please everyone, but seeing the many Gwent fans around (both my friends and online) it seems to be a good business decision indeed. I have a friend who literally plays Witcher 3 for Gwent... :D I mean, of course he appreciates the game itself as well, but prioritizes Gwent.

this could actually be huge! online tournaments, leagues etc... :) really good move CDPR!

GWENT is the best card game ever made. I wish I could play it all the time in real life, I dunno if you guys take it as seriously as I do but if I could play GWENT in atlantic city at the casino Id be super rich hahhaa

Well done as always CDPR

I too really hope it's not a mobile only game, I know a lot of people that would buy this day one, if it releases in PC and consoles. Also really hoping it's not free to play, would rather give CDPR a load of money up front and I'm sure most people would too.

I'm not for cards games normally. But i really like the Gwent in game, even if there is a big unbalance (spies are too good making nilfgaard and northern realms above those who lack spies: Skellige, scoia tel and monsters) so i'm going to follow this with attention.

Let's hope it turns out good, there is a lot of work to be done for the Gwent we know from TW3 to be good enough as a standalone game, we shall see what E3 brings us.

To be honest how could anyone not see this coming after the news got out that CDPR will be showing something at E3. :p (Also the stuff in their recent report about them working on a different type of game than previously)

This was inevitable, hopefully should come for mobile platforms too, would love to play with some real people :D (local and online)

But I really hope this isn't the "new" title CDP was going to unveil, which "the studio previously haven't explored before", that would be a bummer.
I'm more curious what that will be.
