Haircuts Don't Work

Haircuts Don't Work

I have a Steam copy of TW 3; I've started a new play through. Before starting the new play through; I deselected the following TW 3 DLC: Alt look for Triss & Yenn, and Beard & hair styles. Yenn's vanilla outfit appeared in the Imperial Audience mission; so I know that's working.

My problem is: When I went to a barber in Novigrad, and asked for a hair restyle--it doesn't work at all. No matter which style I select; the haircut cutscene takes place, but when I get out of the barber's chair Geralt's hair remains the style he started the game with. Also; I can successfully get a clean shave, but none of the vanilla beard style options appear in game.

Any suggestions, ideas, resolutions? TY!

System Specs:
Win 8.1 64 bit
Intel I7 4820K @ 3.7 GHz
X79 chipset
24 GB DDR3 1600 RAM
2 GTX 880M GPUs in SLI
Nvidia Win 8.1 353.62 64 bit drivers
1 TB Seagate hybrid HDD
Creative X Fi USB Pro 5.1 into an Onkyo home theater system

Hmmm. As far as I know, not all DLC is able to be toggled. The only ones that are are the alternative looks and the new Gwent card artwork. I would validate the installation through Steam and try to get another haircut. If that doesn't work, re-activate the Beard and Hairstyles.

Out of curiosity, why do you need to deactivate it? All of the original hairstyles are still there.

This is unrelated, but something very weird happened to me when I selected the goatee and days later went back to a clean shaven look. Geralt stayed clean shaven for a few more days and then after one of the Blood Baron quests his beard suddenly grew very long during one cutscene and then stayed that way.

I'll chalk this up to a sudden estrogen surge followed by an enormous testosterone backlash. Probably a condition brought on by a bad decoction.

In that case I'm glad it was just a beard, and he didn't suddenly sprout breasts or something.

Thanks for the replies!

Interesting............was unaware DLC couldn't be toggled............................and, after installing the DLC hair/beard pack the original styles were not available in my game??

Just fired up my game, after turning the hair/beard DLC back on, as you suggested. It worked! Oddly enough; it looked like just the vanilla hair and beard styles again?! Anyway..........................thanks for the suggestion!

Great! I...think...!

Not sure I'm understanding exactly what problem you were/are having. The way things should work is this:

No Beard & Haircut DLC = default hairstyles/beards.

With Beard & Haircut DLC = default hairstyles/beards (as they were) PLUS new hairstyles/beards, and Geralt's beard should no longer grow unless you select clean-shaven with a default hairstyle (though there is endless debate about how beard growth actually works, and it does not seem to be working consistently for many users...with or without the DLC.)

The default hairstyles do not look any different with the DLC, but their files are overwritten by installing it, I believe, so removing the DLC mid-game is not recommended and likely will cause issues.

I am not understanding what your are saying, "...looked just like vanilla hair and beard styles again?!" (I'm afraid something may still be wrong with your installation and your beard is going to start growing sideways.)

Okay, I'm getting these double posts all over the place. Gonna log off for a bit. (Gotta play around with some modding, anyway!)
