But... But... Pi is an irrational number, with non periodical infinite decimal expansion, not 3.14!

What we can be sure of is that it would sit somewhere between today and tomorrow :p

I don't celebrate it. I celebrate Better Approximation to Pi Day, 22/7.

3.14 is off by -0.05 percent. 22/7 is off by +0.04 percent. It's also easier to do calculations in your head with.

My grandfather was a math teacher from Oneonta, Alabama and loved corny jokes.

"What did you learn in school today, son?"

"Pi r squared."

(in best Foghorn Leghorn imitation) "What do I send you to school for, son. They don't teach you nothing there. Everybody knows pie are round, cornbread are square."

But this year it's 3.14.14, so it's actually closer than 22/7. :p

I wonder how many people know who Foghorn Leghorn is ? Definitely one of my most memorable childhood characters ;)
Seems like there are a lot of "days" . One for just about everybody .
