I have to say that I am in agreement with the others here. I am just getting back into The Witcher games after not playing them for a year, and it's taking me a bit to get back into the habit of having to listen to everything and remember that I have to read everything, and find books, etc to get everything done. However, I'm finding it much more fulfilling that sitting here watching a movie and chatting or reading while doing stuff mindlessly, which is what I find myself doing when I play a lot of other games.

Just my 2 coppers worth anyway.

I agree with what the others here have already posted . It gives me a great pain to be playing a game when you see a big yellow ! or ? above a NPC`s head . It takes all the fun out .

Yep I agree with you as well I should be able to find that NPC on my own by asking other NPC's to give me directions to that NPC, reading books or looking around the video game world for clues to try and find where that NPC might be like maybe where that NPC has her or his sword kept and that the NPC might be in that place or not. Also I do not want to see !, ? or arrows on my map at all.

My favorite quest/sidequest in Morrowind was accessing the Shrine of Vivec (spelling?). You literally had to drown yourself to complete death to gain access and all the game gave you was this note: Breathe the waters of his glory and the way is made clear.

That's it.

IMO side quests that have vague clues like that are awesome and I wish we saw more structuring like that in main questlines...

So are you saying you like vague or misleading clues? Did you find the hideout based on Baltimore's letter?

The example you've given is better than the Balitmore's letter clue because it doesn't leave much room for misinterpretation. I can tolerate a clue that is completely right or a total "bum steer" but I hate things that are half-right (without being warned about it).

the game is trying to make you, not just Geralt, think and draw logical conclusions. It doesn't have markers and it doesn't need them, just read your journal, pay attention to conversations and think a bit before running around.

Honestly most modern games have way too much hand holding. No fun in that.

This. That's what I loved about Morrowind, no quest markers showing you where to go, only a journal containing vague information.

"Help" functions (like markers on map for each and everything) only are needed if:

the plot is not made clear by writing bad dialogs, by telling a mere story.

For this, I am certain that we will not see any of this.

Just look back - if you can :)/>/>/>/> - to the times where you had to draw maps because there had been no map available at all, to the times where you had to look out for regular meals just to be able to cast a mere light spell, to a time you had to rest a certain amount of time (you could not rest at ANY location) to remember a spell ...

A nightmare?
Quite the contrary! These games had been good (and are being kept in memory) because they had one important thing in common: a background story worth of the name.

Today - well: all too often a "game" does not deliver because all there is are "dazzling" graphics, at the cost of no plot to speak of.

So I hope to see more of the same, reality bound game experience, when it comes to sitting down with the wild hunt.

And yes: please - no more SILLY quicktime events

Only my personal opinion ...

I remember from the first time playing TW2 that the only thing I had trouble with finding was the third nekker nest to blow up. That could have used some kind of clue, for example the nekkers spawning from there and running towards you. Instead they spawned all over the forest...

I also hope that they try to describe the events that transpired in the books better for newcomers. When I started playing TW2 I hadn't read them nor played TW1 so I was quite confused with everything.

They could make an animated video of 3 min or something that quickly describes who Ciri and Yennefer are to Geralt (since he now has his memory back)

Hard quests are the only way to go. No quest markers, no magic arrows that lead you exactly to the hidden cave that contains the long lost artifact. None of that nonsense please.

If they make clues really tough and I actually don't complete a few side quests, that's OK, that's perfectly FINE. I don't have to complete every single quest but the satisfaction you get from tough quests is so much more than routinely running around following magical guiding arrows and doing 100% completion. At least in my book that's the case.

Wholeheartedly agree.
Quest markers sort of turn the whole game into a gigantic QTE. Bleepin' diamonds hoovering over NPCs are a bloody disgrace as well.

Somehow I can't help but post this. Extremely entertaining. It seems to me Howard, who is just short of brilliant, is at one point attempting to rationalize the nefarious pervasive handholding he himself went for in the latest TES.

Yeah I also support the idea of no quest markers what so ever. Even though I am lazy and use them in the games that they are in they take out the opportunity to actually think for your self and search. And god knows how rewarding it is to find something that isnt given out to you in an instant.
