But the game is "flying". All other things are ok. No bugs no more problems. 16:10 (1600:1080) and on the "high" grafics with no trouble. The only problem is the text. Do you really think that my processor is not enough for the text?

No text could mean that you need to reinstall drivers for your video card .
Also try installing June 2010 DirectX and the
2010 VC Redistributables

I think I am having this same problem. Or, to be precise, this description describes my problem completely. This shouldn't be due too old graphic drivers, since CCC updated itself this morning. Redistributables I already had due my Visual Studio -10, and repairing them with the link provided earlier didn't make a difference. Also installing DX didn't make the game work What should I do? The game is patched, and my computer consists of i5 2500, HD4850 and 8 GBs of RAM.

The same issue here.
No text in menu, no tooltips, no juornal entries.

For me it looks like game is not loading text files from CookedPC folder "*.w2strings".
I tryied switching between both "en0.w2strings" (eng version) and pl0.w2strings (polish version).

I also noticed that even when i created manualy some moded description file *.w2strings it was not loaded.
Just like game didnt see them?

edit: To make it clear, it happend today AFTER updating game.
Currently looking around in registry and ini files if something looks starnge.

I also have the missing text problem since installing patch 3.1. Was running fine before.

Update: Fixed problem by re-installing game.

I reinstalled the game too and didn't update, now everything works fine... Not counting the damned low FPS

Same problem here. 2.0 works flawlessly but when patched to 3.1 the subtitle and menu texts disappear. Oddly enough, main menu texts pop up when you move mouse over them. Reinstalling the game didnt help, reinstalling video card drivers didnt help, installing that directx thingy didnt help. Now I just play it without the 3.1 patch...

Problem solved for me.

I mailed support and they sad I can't install update 3.1 on the 2.0 game.
Patch 3.1 is for the Enhanced Edition.

So if you want patch 3.1, first install this: Enhanced Edition

No the game is installed default with name The Witcher 2. I am having this problem as well after updating too EE and patches (I played the prior version to completion). My drivers are current and work with other games.

OK, I deinstalled completely (except saved games) re-downloaded EE (ouch as we have download limits), then installed (many lost hours (). At launch it detected that there was a patch 3.1 and I applied that. The text works at 3.1.

I may try 3.2 but really don't want to keep deinstall/reinstall.

Any suggestions please? (I am sorry registry edits are not something I want to do by hand.)

Back up your witcher2exe with the 3.1 patch then try the 3.2 patch if the text fails again then replace the witcher2exe that you backed up .
Or run from the witcher2exe and you won`t be bothered with the game wanting to update .

Thanks Tommy, I will try that. I suspect backing up the complete folder is safest. I would like to use the 3.2 UI though (

Yep that would probably be safest and if the 3.2 is successful then just delete the backup folder .
