Having preformance Issues

Hi everyone,

I just recently bought the Witcher 2 enhanced edition and have been having a blast playing it ! However I do run into some performance issues. My Laptop has the following :

GTX 660M
12GB RAM
Intel Core i7-3630 @ 2.4 ghz
Windows 8 x64

I have all the latest Nvidia drivers instfalled ! 310.70, the resolution of the game I am trying to run at is 1600x900 and I still have to deal with alot of lag even with ubersampling turned off. All help is appreciated :)

As you may already know, laptop's GPU ain't as powerful as PC ones.
you might try lowering all visual effects and then increase them one by one to see which one is too heavy for your system.

But there could be another case :
sometimes when a system has two graphic processor, you should set the default GPU for each program.

The 660M is a powerful GPU and should not have too much trouble with this game. But the "Cinematic DOF" feature, which may be turned on in your current settings, is a performance killer and should be disabled in any setup.

Also, what gaurdian alludes to: Most modern Intel/nVidia laptops have a graphics switching feature called Optimus. If Optimus is not set up properly, it may try to run the game on the built-in Intel GPU, which leads to poor performance.

In the nVidia Control Panel, go to "Manage 3D Settings" => "Program Settings". If there isn't already a profile for The Witcher 2 (witcher2.exe), create one. Then set the preferred graphics processor to "High Performance NVIDIA Processor". Save your change, and try the game again.
