Absolutely awesome, and absolutely necessary! Could you give an approximate release date maybe? Because I'll just wait until that day to play the game again.

Again Reworked Rocks

Hello again!

Earlier screenshots are outdated, I again reworked rocks (this time - totaly). :)

Some screens:







Rocks saturation will be slightly reduced.

Yesterday I asked Hogan if he's gonna edit foliage textures as well. Unfortunatelly for now he isn't planning to do it.
But maybe we can convince him. ;D

+1 on the grass! At some point in 2014 CDPR had the perfect texture, http://gamerescape.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/the-witcher-3-combat/the_witcher_3_wild_hunt_geralt_ready_to_deliver_the_final_blow.png

If only one could, like, extract the texture from that screenie ^^ its impossible I know

Unfortunately for all of us the grass you see in the picture is using the same textures we have today. But why does it look different? The answer is simple.
This screenshot was captured with the evolved renderer that was using Dynamic image-based lighting plus the volume based translucency!

I, uhm, I'm not sure it's the EXACT same texture man. I don't think IBL (which is still in the game in some form) and volume based translucency would make THAT much of a difference. The texture is like completely different, it's even wider. But of course I might be wrong, so I ask you, have you unpacked the textures and noticed they are higher quality than what they look like in game?

Actually, i can tell that in Unreal 4, for example, there is a great difference between without/with translucency on vegetation.

EDIT : And by the way isn't vegetation textures managed by speedtree in this game ? Is it really moddable ?

and from the author himself :) :

Ok so first of all, it all seems a bit weird to me because the DDS files where in environment/vegetation/trees folder right after I uncooked the game. However the grass seems to be bit more tricky, because, changing texture color doesn't seem to do much. Now I believe secret lies in .srt files however I don't have any tool to edit it with.

Changing colour might not work because of some specular info in the model. But did anyone try changing texture entirely?
