Only I hope that the no HUD thing is something that doesn't limit us as much, something we can live with, etc. In DEHR we didn't even have an inventory if we didn't have the hud. The stage is very small, but I think they should have let us have an inventory that looks more organic, more integrated with the world isntead of something that happens in a special screen... or maybe just roll through the weapons... I don't know.
I think we do need to have a clear distinction between a UI and a HUD.
Having screens like a 'Character Sheet' or a skill list represented as pages on a PDA type device would be cool. Same goes for things like contact lists and 'journal entries'. I would like to have the option of viewing this in real time via the in-game HUD as well as the usual 'pause' type screen we all know.
I would like to keep the inventory and other 'physical' or 'tactical' information in a separate screen, pausing play to let the player do their thing. I have already made my case for the inventory screen I would like in other threads.
But yes, a functional but highly limited UI for those without shades, cyberware or goggles or what have you should be a standard. I must admit that I am tempted to try a hardcore style character with no cyberware and minimal tech. If possible of course.
Well I'd say they have to design the system so someone can function (and "win" the game) even if they have no augmentations at all.
For my part I always used goggles for eyewear mods. That way if you got nailed by an EMP pulse all you had to do was take them off and you could still function. I always found it amusing telling a player "You're totally blind." after their eye implants were fried by a pulse.
I totally agree. As I stated above.
Edit:
Oh, and "Sadism" is always the hallmark of a decent GM in my book.
