Cyberpunk 2020 pg. 67 "Smartgoggles".
"Smartgoggles can be outfitted with chips to simulate the effects of up to 4 cyberoptic options."
"Smartgoggles come with a smartgun plug and cables, allowing the Targeting Scope option to be used."
So if one of your options include is "Times Square Marquee" (pg. 86) linked to a software chip readout you should have yourself a HUD.

In the 1980's (when Cyberpunk was written) HUDs were still a bit more science "fiction" then "fact" I'm fairly sure they'll include various HUD option in 2077.

I'm really hoping if all you are is just a normal guy with no goggles or anything, there's no HUD at all. I know that might get a few complaints but it'd make things more interesting. ^^

I think that having a mechanic like that in the game would illustrate how much easier life is with cybernetics and why so many people would get them. It may not be fair to people who want to play as primitive as possible but Cyberpunk isn't supposed to be fair.

I'd like to playthrough the game as a sorta ultra purist guy in one playthrough and the complete opposite in the other playthrough. Like you said, it'd highlight why so many people want cybernetics as well as give people a new way of playing the game.

And you've got yourself one hell of a challenge for the players. :D

I like the idea, but I think even at its most basic there'll have to be some sort of minimal information somewhere on your screen. Perhaps no information about your adversaries, but just about yourself and your general condition. It is a game and you'd have no other way of telling what condition you're in otherwise. In the PnP game this would be your character sheet.

this could look like the stamina/health meter of urban terror (http://www.dswp.de/old/wiki/lib/exe/fetch.php/tutorials:urban_terror:hud.jpg), or just, if you see your char falling, he's got a bullet in the knee or he is dead. (see what I did there)
----------------------
also, I would like to have the clock of my computer displayed somewhere, because sometimes I need to go, and don't want to have to super+D everytime I want to check the time.

Naah, just rub strawberry jam all over the player's screen. That'll tell them if they're close to death or not. XD

But on a more serious note, I do expect that there will be a HUD no matter what just for the sake of making it easier for the player. I'd honestly prefer a screen that tells you how much damage you've taken to a body part, like the original Deus Ex, the fallout games or Call of Cthulhu.

The Deus ex 1 system was pretty good.

Shame it didn`t carry over into DX3 or 2

Google Glass weeheehee!! No, I'd say, and here I go again, Deus Ex HR had some good ideas about putting it into the eyes of the player, which in turn basically makes any type of HUD option we've seen since the dawn of gaming a viable thing...but having said that, I want something minimal, non-intrusive and with substance over style. Customizable is always good (Borderlands 2 mixed with the later Assassins Creed HUDs come to mind) and the ability to toggle it completely OFF is one thing I must demand in lieu of getting good screenshots.

I agree with the second part of the post, Mirror's Edge and Dead Space come to mind though. Customizing huds is the most direct way to make them bothersome unless you go for minimal things and keep the same hud for both first and third, but people tend to come up with the most unplayable things

Probably one of the things Community Content will tackle fairly quickly.

I'm not so worried about customization as I am about usability. As long as it's intuitive and doesn't take days to figure out and looks (subjectively) pretty, it'll be fine to me.

Although I like the idea of different eyeware/cybernetics having different huds based on the brand or whatever.

I'm thinking in a First-Person Shooter pov but I had this idea from when I was playing SW: KOTOR but I would like to see unique "HUD"s via different visors or cyber-glasses. Also, have a choice to have a customizable set HUD if you want a brand new pair of cyber-eye implants. Along with this idea would be to connect your weapon's scope to your character's implant as an HUD add-on.

I'm thinking a more direct approach is needed. CD will simply have to supply a thug with each game to stand behind the player and use a a 2 lb ball peen hammer to smack the player with as the character takes damage. Shot to the arm... SMACK with the hammer. Pain is a wonderful motivator and I'm sure it'll make us be more careful next time.

Jakub Kisiel ( eks-CDPR, eks-People Can Fly) is making a indy game on unity engine. The game is in TPP and I really like this holographic HUD around PC head. I was thinking that it would be nice if in CP2077 such holographic pieces appeared in front of PC face in "combat mode". Very nice touch, immersion wise.

VERY nice Nars. That looked spectacular.
The holo HUD exists for some not quite clear in the demo game reason I presume, and yeah it's a nice touch.

I tried "Mount and Blade" the other day (free trial on Steam). I'm sure any number of people love the melee system but I found it extremely difficult. I'm sure I'd get somewhat better at it with time but if a similar system was used in CP2077 I'd just have to give it a miss.
