Where to purchase expansion pass?

I am purchasing the PC DVD edition of Witcher 3.

Where would i go to pre-purchase the expansion pass? It is a physical Collector's Edition.

Steam? GOG.com? Somewhere else?

The physical copy of the game is only compatible with the GoG version of the expanions pass. I hope that helps.

Definitely the GoG version, much like the base game, it will be DRM free. Steam won't even let you purchase the Expansion Pass without owning the base game on Steam.

Thanks. That is exactly what i needed to know. I shall go and pre-purchase the expansion pass on GOG.com for the copy of the game i will get from my local game store.

EDIT - Just purchased the expansion pass for Witcher 3 on GOG.com. Doing my part in supporting the devs. :)

I need to be more careful

Sorry to bring back the topic but no, this time I was logged in at gog.com and the price is 24,99€ Am I doing something wrong? I got the discout for W3 main game and W1 and W2 are in my shelf. What did you do to get the pass for 20$?

Thanks :)

You know, I was wrong when I answer your previous post. I was logged to my account and I was getting a lower price. I believed if I logout, I'd get full price (U$D 25). I just checked and that didn't happen. I get always get U$D 20.99 as price.

My apologies for the misleading comment.

It may has to do with regional pricing, but I'm not sure.

Here is a screenshot of the price tag when I'm logged in:

Don't worry. Misunderstanding understood :flower:

Oh well, it is a bit painful that for 200 hours, and after the last trailer I believe it, I paid 43€ and for 30 more hours I'll pay 25€ ... They could have lied about the hours :ninja:

But I can see the real reason, that game has had to be extremely expensive to create, they need to recover the money. I'm in. :)

If i had money, i would buy shares in this company.Genuine or not, they know how to get and keep a following. My assumption is that they had to get the base game out by a certain time and time = money. More time spent = more money invested and possibly less return on the product. Working on side projects such as expansions isn't so far fetched even if you announced this early. It's silly making a different assumption just because content is announced after the game because it could have still been content cut from the game but strategically announced. CD projekct have harbored good will from consumers whether genuine or not and all the moves they made so far screams a good game. They gave you two great games, better consumer relations than most companies and the best collector's edition i have seen in a long time. Seems like a decent company to me.

With them working on expansions, i'm guessing they won't do like naughty dog and take a vacation after the game's release.

How will the Collector's Edition buyers be able to buy the DLCs?

I preordered the Witcher 3 Collector's Edition on Amazon sometimes last year. I have absolutely no problem with buying the mentioned two additional DLCs (regarding their big size of content) but I just wonder how this will be doable for me.
Do I have to buy it through GOG and get .exe files or is there another way to do this?

You have to buy the expansion packs from GOG. I am also getting a physical edition, so it will be same for me.

For clarity's sake, call them expansions. There is a substantial difference in principle between paid DLC's and expansions.

This. Seriously, all kinds of threads pop up mentioning "DLC's" when they really are about the two expansions, and not the actual DLC's that will be released post game release. For free I might add. Gotta love the devs. ^_^

On topic however, I too must download them from Gog since I preordered Collector's edition retail for PC.

The physical copies of the origianl game will only be compatible with GoG, just to be clear for other browsers of the thread. Information can be found: http://buy.thewitcher.com/ Click on "buy for PC" and there's a little note that tells you this information.

Which is a shame, really. I would really love to have a way to count my hours spent in game and wear it like a badge.

there's probably some widget on the internet that already does that. either that, or a mod could be developed. or you could add it to your steam library as a non-steam game and play it through there.

but personally, i don't like to think about how long i've been playing a game. it would be soul crushing.

When I played The Witcher 2 I wanted to elongate pleasure for about 40 hours but as I tried I played only 25 hours (I performed all tasks, find best equipment, saw all endings, but... Т_Т)/ And it's really cool that CDPR give us about 30 hours of additional gameplay ^_^

Bit strange buying Digital expansions for a retail game is it not?

No not really, it's DMR free, so if some shit heads steal the game and enjoy it. One, it's their karma and two they can't get those cool free 16 DLC's or the expansion packs. So those stupid thieving assholes cannot enjoy the full game unless they buy it, like everyone else. :)

Can't you link "any old game" to your steam account? Plus of course (or instead) there is supposed to be some functionality in the Galaxy client (if not now then in the future?)
