So I've been playing a bit since it finished updating and I have to say, the game seems a lot more stable that it did last night, I was getting horrendous blurry pauses in oxenfurt and oxenfurt sewers before even in Shani cutscene but now everything's running smoothly and. About to go see olgierd again so we'll see if there are any henchmen with no heads and arms like the first time. If it's fixed things that's amazing and gives hope for the full game patch fix

It's only a 4.7GB update not 47 GB so don't worry it's not too bad. You will need to download it to continue playing a save made after playing HOS.

Have you tried doing a hard reset. Hold the power button down on the console for around 10 seconds, switch off the mains for 30 seconds and then boot it up again. Clears the cache and when you boot up the game again hopefully it should ask you to update. Then just wait until the HOS has updated. As it will allow you to start the witcher even whilst it's downloading which you don't want to do.

If that don't work I would find HOS in the xbox marketplace and where it should say installed it might say something else like update or install (click it to start install)

Hope that helps, good luck on the path

I'd be nice if a Red or anyone in the know would let us know what its for, after all 4.7 GB is quite substantial. Even if its just cosmetic and fixes nothing.

They released a statement on their website that the official witcher twitter tweeted. Basically the version that was released on day one was an incorrect version hence some bugs and things missing. Subsequently the correct version was released which is the one that was released subsequently updating the original version. That's why to me it seems more stable.

Not saying it's perfect still but the only problems I've had is after a while Oxenfurt gets the same memory leak as Novigrad when it keeps pausing with a blurry screen. I've heard if it starts doing that if you save and reset your xbox it fixes the problem temporarily. Not ideal but better than nothing I guess

Cutscenes have been smooth like butter, I wonder if the guys with the missing body parts were part of the old version. Not come across any other bugs so far not already introduced by 1.10

Sounds logical. But maybe there ist some trouble if you start playing with the "incorrect" version and progress with the corrected, becaus I still can't take the pickaxe and the quest from the Ophirian salesman ends in the first bandit camp because the chest contains the wrong loot.

Unfortunately I have no more save where I did all the question markers at skellige, so I could not start HoS for new.

Hmm thats strange, I started playing HOS on day one with the old version so I encountered Olgierd's henchmen not having heads and arms. The following day after it updated, i have been playing it and its been running really smoothly, no glitches in cutscenes at all or any other bugs.

i was able to pick up the pickaxe with no problems, i was worried walking up to it as I had been reading the forums, such a relief.

You could try deleting the HOS and re downloading it. also delete your save data from the console (providing you are connected to the internet so the game can redownload your save filed from the cloud) load up the game and it will reysnc with the cloud and hopefully if you did both of those it might work? i did that after HOS updated itself.

I've made a habit now of deleting and resyncing the save data to try and minimise risk of data corruption or bugs.

I already deleted the whole game and made a clean install. Deleting HoS and redownloading it should not be the problem. I will give this a try for sure. If I understand you right, I should connect my Xbox to the internet, then delete the save data from the console and afther that I should start the game?

Yes when you delete all your save data make sure your connected to the internet, just choose 'delete from this console only'.

When you start up the game, it will pull your saves from the cloud and re sync your game. Then when you load a save all you saves should be there as normal.

It's just strange how you can't pick up the pick axe in that quest yet I had no problem at all. And if you already deleted and reinstalled HOS, hopefully deleting saves from console and re syncing works for you or anyone else with these problems.

Only other thing I did was delete the whole game and DLCs completely as well as my saves. Then reinstalled everything and resynced. Only did this after the downloading HOS the first day when I had problems

I'll give this a try tomorrow. Hopefully this helps. In general, there is something funny going on, cause I read a lot about a quest breaker in the "Open Sesame" quest. Curious, I had absolutely no issues in this quest. I'll hope they fix all the broken stuff as soon as possible.

There is one thing I learned from this mess: I won't play Blood and Wine at it's release. ;D

Well that is strange also, if your having no problem with the open sesame quest but problem picking up the pick axe. Maybe their having problems with their save files.

What I've learned, don't download a patch until you know it's safe to do so or if there's no other choice haha.

My only real issues I have with the game now are the frequent pauses with blurry load screens in oxenfurt now as well as Novigrad and the graphical bugs in the main game in some cutscenes, e.g. no scabbards for anyone except Geralt and the cutscene of Yen and Geralt at Kaer Morhen at the beginning of the game, those are ones I've found on a new game, I've heard there may be more later on :(

Deleting saves and resync with the cloud works fine, but don't solve the problem. I finished HOS yesterday without further issues.
Of curiosity I started HOS from the very beginning with a (very) old save and both bugged sidequests went trough flawlessly. I really think starting with the broken add on causes those two questbreakers. Unfortunately I have no save between finishing all the Skellige question marks and starting HOS. So I have to wait for a patch to fix the both sidequests for me.

I can confirm, that both quests in 1.11 still bugged. I can still not take up the pickaxe in Enchanting: "Quality Has Its Price" and the first chest in "From Ofier's Distant Shores" still contains the wrong loot.
At least I was able to kill the werewolf in "Skellige's Most Wanted" ...
