Help, stuck in curse!

I need help and advice on how to get past the first fight when you try to lift the curse in chapter 2. Seriously, I'm frustrated from this first fight. Limited movement coupled with 4 enemies and allies who die in one hit. Cant seem to get past:(.
I'm playing on Dark Mode, i know its meant to be a challenge, but this is hardly a predicament with which you pass with skill, mostly luck,IMO.

Sorry if this sounds like a rage rant or something, this topic is mostly driven by my anger

You mean the part where you have to fight as some dead soldier and you have to capture the banner?
I had some trouble with this section on Dark mode but I beat without much trouble on Insane :S. The banner fight is not the hardest, the one where you fight as Seltkirk is more difficult. Especially if you don't have much swordsman skills.

But as Seltkirk You can kite foes until Your hp is restored. The part with banner is in a little circle surrounded with fire and no place to run.
I know that pain. Wish You luck and lots of patience.
Or You can probably lower difficulty just for that part.

There's a lot of suggestions on it in this thread, if you want to look through them. It was about Hard Mode, but they would still apply to Dark too.

if you r quick enough you can kill 3 enemies before your allies are dead then only the one with the banner is left .... to defeat him just stay close to the boundary of fire and wait for him to come close to u then circle around so that he is between you and the fire ..... then attack him . if he blocks he will be pushed into the fire and i think it causes him some damage ..... basically just keep hitting him once he is in position ........
and dont b afraid ..... it takes him about 4-5 hit to kill you ... even if he hits you once or twice just keep hitting him ad he will die .....

Concentrate on Draug with heavy swings and the fight is over.

Really? You mean that if you low down difficulty just for once all the dark items disappear?

I'm actually puzzled on how you "lower difficulty" when you're playing dark mode. The option to change difficulty is disabled in the Options menu. Dark Mode is meant to be a permanent choice for a playthrough. (And as far as I know, that was the intention - it was mentioned somewhere in the publicity).

Well the ones you have crafted dont disappear but become unusable ( read this somewhr havent tried it though )
and the diagrams can no longer be found on the merchants ...
and if you lower the difficulty from dark .... the option to select dark is no longer available in the menu to change the difficulty setting .......

How do you lower it in the first place? I can't select anything on that option.

Well, that took a bit of experimenting, but it appears to be due to the Panel Tweaks mod.
(And yes, you DO lose all Dark Mode items - Geralt was running around in his drawers with no weapons).
