Hitching and Stutter Lag in Patch 1.04 (PC)

Watch closely as I hold the camera control down. I am getting hitching/stutter lag every 5 seconds or so, regardless of in-game framerate. This is using game version 1.04 and did not occur for me prior to this (to the best of my memory)

This problem occurs using both a gamepad and a mouse and happens regardless of video quality settings or resolution. I am using a GSYNC enabled monitor, though it also occurs using standard VSYNC and with VSYNC disabled.

I am using a GTX 970, i7 920, 12GB RAM, Windows 7, using the latest nvidia drivers for Witcher 3 (352.86). I am using DS4Windows to use my PS4 controller with my PC, but this problem occurs when I disable the process too.

Does anyone know what is causing this issue?

Gtx 970, same here fps shows 60 but game is stuttering like 30, I think it starts after 1.04.

Well for me, it's not that the framerate doesn't feel smooth (when I play at 1080p, it's a constant 60fps and feels like it), it's just the momentary hitching every 5 seconds or so that is ruining the game for me. It's like the game is buffering something and totally freezes for a split second.

I believe I may have found the culprit. It seems to be a setting inside gc.ini as I adjusted the values and it completely fixed the issue. I will do a bit more testing and make sure that nothing gets broken as a result, but it seems very promising.

---------- Updated at 12:05 PM ----------

OK, after testing for about an hour, I nailed down the exact command that was causing the problem.

**DISCLAIMER WARNING: I AM NOT A PROGRAMMER SO DON'T BLAME ME IF YOUR PC MELTS. I SIMPLY TESTED THE CVARS AND FOUND THE SOLUTION FOR MY PROBLEM. AS USUAL, YMMV**

Browse to Steam\steamapps\common\The Witcher 3\bin\config\base and open gc.ini with a text editor.

The command you need to edit is:

; Upper limit for amount of memory used by the objects that will automatically trigger the GC
ObjectMemoryTrigger = 290

Change it to:

ObjectMemoryTrigger = 450

I tested with smaller memory triggers, but any less than 450 caused occasional hitching in Novagrad. It is possible hitching still may occur elsewhere in more populated/memory intensive areas, so if it does, it seems raising this number higher fixes it. I used 512 initially and that seemed to work fine.

-------

I'd be grateful if other people could test this with their setups and see how it works for them. Hopefully this won't cause any major game-breaking issues!

My average FPS is 45~50,no drastic changing,but I still can see stuttering when I turn the FPS to 60 or unlimited(fullscreen), but when I lock on 30, the issue is gone. I have this issue since V1.02, don't know why exactly.
