I do not care.
The terms "Cyberpunk" and "Mike Pondsmith", plus all the imagery and scenery of Cyberpunk are enough to make me interested in that game.
The fact that CD:pR is the master of the project is also a good mark for that game because their work on the Witchers is fabulous.
And all the declarations made are encouraging for what that game will be.

As a comparison with movies : Special effects do not make a good movie. They just make nice scenes. But if the story is crappy and the actors are at shame, the special effects will not save the movie.
All ask for better graphics because all want photorealistic games and the hardware is more and more powerfull to support more and more beautiful games.
But beauty does not mean success.

I use my PC mostly for gaming, but also for photo editing, as a home cinema, to read mails, surf the web, all that stuff. I do not feel the need to invest in a console just to play.

True, but there's a difference, they said it was a teaser. And a teaser is all we got. Nothing more, nothing less.

Of course, it doesn't help that I want the game out right now, polished up, pardon the pun, and finished.

After Witcher 1, CDPR jumped up there for me. W2 was prettier than it was well-written, compared to the complexities in W1, but still very solid. Obsidian of course, although so oftne bugs cripple them. I miss Troika. I enjoyed DEHR and Eidos Montreal's work. Valve has some good writing. Walking Dead is well-written. Amnesia, same. Although that emotional involvement tends to be fear, fear and more fear. To The Moon, for example, was so good.

Less intense writing, but still quite good I thought were Metro 2033, Stalker, Sleeping Dogs, Dishonored. Far Cry was tolerable. Good villain.

I'm challenged to think of good writing for any of my PS3 games. That is, games I purchased or play only on the Ps3. Red Dead Redemption, I guess, but it ended up boring me. Prototype 2 was fun, but not because of the writing. Infamous?

It's pretty rare I'll stop mid-game on the PS3 to think about what I just saw or read.

For PS3? Hmmm... Demon's Souls? That's the first thing that comes to mind. Not your typical storytelling though. But still wonderfully constructed.

Here! Here! Well, I've only played Dark Souls (for PC) but I assume the two are similar. What a spectacular game, right next to the TW1 & 2, my highest honor :). I have never owned a consol :(, but Demon Souls and Red Dead have tempted me. Maybe the PS4 will make way for low PS3 prices :D

You haven't answered my question though. Here, I'll repost it:

Was there an actual console shown being plugged in or did they just use a PC of similar specifications that they plan for the PS4 to play those games?

yes it was connected to a dev kit. the final pretty box where all the components of the dev kit go in was not present cause they are still deciding on the design.

However the Watch Dogs gameplay was not running on the devkit but a pc and it had horrible screen tearing.

But you so noted in one of your previous posts that it was PS4. Why didn't you bring up screen tearing then?

Seems reasonable. And affordable if it is your living room entertainment system.

As for whether or not the games showen were running on a dev kit or not, no one saw it. No one at the press thingy anyway. So...who knows.

A dev kit may as easily be called a PC at this point. I remain cautiously optimistic, but will wait and see what the final box can actually do.

Quite true. If you want a cheap alternative, buy a console.

There was, however, a question about what would one find impressive, and a claim that PS4 would be a "supercharged PC", which is why I mentioned an actual supercharged PC, which I personally would find impressive. Also, you can always bring the power and the price down on a PC, by choosing less expensive parts.

Sardukhar said:
Given the expected sub-1k price tag of the PS4, I'd say pretty impressive results for an all-in-one. compared to top-end custom-built hardware, of course not.

The console will be on sale in October-November-December, if it's not delayed. Plenty of time for equivalent PC gear to become cheaper, I'd say. Eight to ten months in the PC world is a lifetime.

I'm of course not expecting to be able to buy equivalent parts for equivalent prices at the time of PS4:s launch. I think everyone knows Sony is used to selling their consoles at loss, then making the money back in the inflated prices of games. However, as I've said before, PS4 will be around for over half a decade, most likely. Plenty of time for cheap PC gear to catch up.

Also, I personally only count the critical parts of a PC, when calculating the price. That's the MB, RAM, CPU and GPU. The drives, case, PSU, sound card, monitor and peripherals usually exist already. I'm sure trying to find an MB, CPU and GPU with enough RAM for $500, to rival the power of PS4 will be hard come Christmas, but a couple years from now I'm sure the PC has caught up with the PS4 even in cheap parts.

"And every bit as impressive as the console initiative is the way our teams have pivoted to capture the mobile phenomenon. EA has established a clear leadership position on both the iOS and Android systems and we’ve set new standards for business models and gameplay. The Simpsons: Tapped Out has been a runaway success and next week we will release Real Racing 3, a free-to-play masterpiece from our Firemonkeys studio, with graphics many people mistake for a current generation console experience."

How can a CEO say that mobile devices rival consoles in performances ?

Never trust a corp.
