Horrible controls and feel in this one too?

The Witcher had absolutely terrible controls and overall feel for moving your character. Please tell me they won't be that bad the second time around...

I had no problem with first one's controls , but controls will change pretty heavily as it is new engine after all

I'd found the the third camera's controls pretty efficient and easy to use. Have you been playing it in isometric view?

The controls in TW1 were great. It's one thing to not like the style, but what makes you say they were "horrible"? I always found the combat to be pretty fluid in that game. And moving around...in the camera view I was in you just had to click where you wanted to go. I don't see how that's a bad thing...

I thought the controls were good myself. The only problem i had was on my old video card when i moved the mouse there was like a 1 second delay from when i moved the mouse that Geralt actually turned. Made fighting kinda hard. But i gotta better card and after i installed it no problems at all

I don't know what game everyone else is talking about, but the camera control in TW1 was terrible. It swished around like it was under water; it lacked responsiveness and practically made me dizzy at times. It was just plain bad. I agree with op. ME2 is an example of excellent camera control. The Witcher is not.

I can only speak from my own experience. I can honestly say I don't remember having a problem with the controls/camera in my two playthroughs. Your points are valid, I guess I just didn't think it was bad enough. Either way I expect TW2 to be better, I can agree with you on that. I expect it to be more of a direct-control over the shoulder type game.

Well, have you messed around with camera sensitivity under options? I don't know if it was really that bad since I had been playing it in over the shoulder mode all the time. WSAD for directions, QWE for weapon selection and ZXC for sword styles, mouse for sword and signs. It was pretty convenient.

Well, then don't try to play Two Worlds 2 - everything wobbles and blurs and stretches and the toon only executes every other command. That is terrible. Until you change the engine commands (helps for graphic issues, not unresponsiveness).~*~My problems with Witcher controls are completely different than any other's. I hope I'll not be screwed in TW2 anyway, because I can't really play with my left hand. Yes, I played ME and I kept shooting all the time when I wanted to move like I usually do, with my right hand. Unfortunately, it seems to be hip, to lock certain keys or mouse buttons for the player to map individually. So I'm hoping for a good gamepad support, I read that somewhere in the faq. Some games I can play nicely with controller and keys, but then again some games don't allow that.Hardest thing for me when running is the stupid 'click middle mouse button to move camera'. Before my first Witcher playthrough, I had played a couple hunded hours Oblivion, where the mouse moved the camera without pressing any buttons and with my 'forwards' on the left mouse button, I could run smoothly through Cyrodiil back and forth without clicking on the ground and/or getting cramps in my fingers. Witcher running is very crampy in comparison (DA too). When you run with the mouse and get into a fight, of course he often does the exact opposite than you intend to, spins into the wrong direction, because the mouse becomes the sword and nothing you can do about it. That's why I'm grateful at least for the active pause and hope they didn't remove that! Because with it's aid and my love for the Witcher *g*, I now play Witcher FCR on insane, despite the limited use of my left hand. If you want something bad enough, I guess, you find a way. But I still get very mad every time I come across a game where the devs think they know best for everyone and don't let you choose your controls at all. I very much hope TW2 will not be one of those games! Because everyone's needs are different. So I don't hope for the devs to know best, but for some freedom of choice for the player. Sometimes you wonder if game designers never played another game than their own or if they just feel the need to do things differently than everyone else, even if well-known solutions work perfectly. So much for a completely different point of view...

I played in ots mode, with camera sensitivity cranked all the way up. It still seemed 'floaty' for lack of a better word. It has lag. Typically, shooters must and usually do have tight, responsive camera control. I see no reason an rpg can't do the same. From what I've seen of TW2 it looks to be improved.

that sounds like what my old card was doing and a better card fixed that issue

My card can run ME2, AA, and SC2 on high settings. I don't think it's my card. Maybe it's just me, lol. No one else seems to have noticed this issue.

Maybe you need to check your mouse settings in control panel if you haven`t already

I would agree that there was slight lag when moving the camera from stationary. Nothing serious, but noticeable.

What worries me about controls is the inventory interface - as seen on some preview screenshots, it uses lists instead of drag'n'drop, which is ok for consoles, but mostly annoying in PC games - I hate inventory interface in ME/Fallout3, managing it is a real pain.

Everytime I have seen the invertory, it has been accompanied with the word "placeholder". So I wouldn't worry just yet.
