Horrible Witcher interface - is there any hope for us?

Interface in this game is rubbish, it's like that. Beautifull game with rubbish interface. Looking on past games one could say its CD Projekt RED type of interface. New qualityy over Apple. Seriously this guy who design interface in CDPR should receive different job. He's not learning from first and second Witcher game. He'll never learn

I manage nightmare inventory on pc with gamepad. And yes i have to quit shop, click couple times X X X to quit talks to CHECK SOME ITEM STATS DRESSED ON ME and than i'm going back to shopkeeper to heck his stuff. Yes in this game you just CANT COMPARE TWO DIFFERENT ITEMS in inventory or in the SHOP or armorer or whatever. You can compare with equipped (not always in the shop) but not two different items of your liking. Yu can compare with ***new MEGA PIN feature TM*** but not with different not pinned (Cant you just make TWO DIFFERENT ITEMS COMPARABLE LIKE IN DRAGON AGE OR OTHERS?)

This example is just a tip of an iceberg of
*autorotating (gamepad) cameras, (much better are in dark souls, dragon age3 etc.)
*auto draw/hide the sword inside battle while enemy runs on me,
*propblems with witcher not feeling/or feeling threatened thus inability to perform certain actions,
*inconsistency in B-button-exit sheme (sometimes it exits from i.e. shop, but it wont exit dialog - nope four times down and A-button instead).
*Hours of search all the same looking bottles or mutagen or books to find the right one.
*Inconsistent scrollbars like in bestiary rightstick smoothly scrolls list but WITHOUT scrolling Dpad cursor - if you clik Dpad cursor to select something you're thrown back on top of the list to cursor.
*Other menus do not even work with this rightstick smooth scrolling and you have to use different dpad slow way. WHY?
*there is so much mess in inventory and there aro NO option to filter items by time of GETTING THE ITEM
*minimap and main map.... there ARE still bugs with different icons disapearing (bug known from day one)
*Going into some left side main game submenu i.e. tutorials which exits into game with different exit path - Who did this interface?
*is it possible that every ingame menu is worked by different random employee all led by the mindless manager who doesn't know that interface is a uniform engeenering design combining graphics, programming and animation/presentation. And now every one of those random employees is trying to fix it each one in a different direction. And manager still do not understand how to manage it?
Man sometimes i just want to defenestrate my TV

You CAN compare an item in shop to the equipped one. One of the trigger buttons on your gamepad does that (was it LT?) When exiting dialogs, just press up on your d-pad. It will change to the last entry (exit dialog). The bottles have various colors. Learn to use the information you're given (being it a shape, color, size, whatever).

As for the user interface... It never was a strong point of witcher series. But it got improved quite a lot comparing to two previous games. Eg. in witcher 2 I kept unequiping my swords whenever trying to check, change or upgrade something. Managing equipment was a chore, and many many more.

Now the interface is pretty usable. Fine, it could use some better sorting, single button exit (exiting from crafting menu requires three or four button presses), the snap to nearest object one the world map is annoying (using gamepad, it probably doesn't happen with mouse), but IMO it IS a step in the right direction.

Wall of text.

I did lol @ defenestrate my TV though. Thanks for that.

And your definition of an interface is just pure gold : uniform engeenering design combining graphics....

Thanks, even if its not ideal it was quite a work to list all of those and i don't like to waste my time. I did it even knowing that no one will give a sh*t about those example list, CDPR doesn't for sure.

Thanks for the link. I'm obviously maaking the point on gamepad interface (but there are more other bad choices on the list above) and for that i would give Bioware's dragon age3 as an example of much better experience on gamepad than those mentioned there (not talking about m+k). Interestingly the icon focused inventories are more suited for keyboard+mose hovering than clickfest on gamepad.A list with icons + written info would be much better for it (it's just a tiny part of game interface apart from uniformity and gamepad control sheme etc.)

Not that obvious.

Perhaps editing your thread title and adding this little fact might help getting better visibility by the devs.

That's not true.
You CAN'T compare SHOPKEEPERS ITEM to the equipped one...
You CANT'' even see on grid your equipped items when in shop. Have to exit shop check or unequip and back to shop
You CAN'T compare ANY item in your inventory to SHOPKEEPERS ITEM....
You CAN'T compare two different items on your inventory....

When exiting dialogs, just press up on your d-pad. It will change to the last entry (exit dialog).

and press A. why not B. I'm talking about interface uniformity. Just a small thing and so much fun exitting B B B those stupid always the same chit-chat exit dialogs.

What information about color or shape or size or "whatever "do you have when looking a grid of same looking books and messages? I just counted, i'm in the beginning of a game before novigrad and this close to beginning I have a grid of 107 books and messages all looking the same... Why there is no item list like in Dragon age or Skyrim(not a grid)? You can't do big open game, make all items looking similar and use GRID BASED INVENTORY. There are just too much items in game which are too similar. Mutagens - all the same. You just can't remember which was gynvael sword which was sword from gold city. There are dozens of them there because it's open world game. I salutue you if you remeber which beer is wchich by color and shape i could go on and on giving those examples. I listed even more examples before.

Hovering your mouse over this grid make it little faster but still anoying. Controller's Dpad clickfest up down right and left is a nightmare after some time. There are also not enough items categories and not enough filters. No, interface is not usable especially whith controller.

but IMO it IS a step in the right direction.

i'm telling you let's make another step? ;)

Yup. Now I know what you mean. My bad about the comparing. The list would also be nice (I just sell all the books once read, never had a problem with them).
